Has any one here been misdiagnosed epileptic? What was the results of taking the perscribed meds?
Question:
Answers:
I was misdiagnosed with bipolar depression. I took a variety antiepilectic meds for a handful of years... 'til I was finally rediagnosed with ADD (the symptoms in my case were similar).
As far as I know, there are many interelated symptoms-- we like to label people as having "a disease" but it may not be as simple as that.
I have had no problems (that I know of) as a result. I graduated top in my class and I'm now working on my m.a. in clinical psychology.
FYI: I took mainly Topiramate for two years...
Other Answers:
Quite often a mood stabiliser is prescribed. Eg. Sodium Valproate which is used to treat epilepsy and other types of fitting disorder can also be prescribed for people with bi-polar disorder, or indeed a variety of conditions that need a medication to alter mood/behaviour.
