Do different types of amphetamines work the same way as different types of anti-depressents, on the synapse?

Question:
Diffrent anti-depressents work on different parts of the synapse, and then become ineffevtive, I am bipolar, and know. Do different types of ampetamines action in a similar manner?

Answers:
Antidepressants and amphetamines work in the same site: the synapse. Amphetamines work via the release and reuptake inhibition of norepinephrine and dopamine . They have no effect on serotonin, which is the target of the most commonly used antidepressants. SSRI's (like prozac) work by blocking the reuptake of serotonin in the presynaptic membrane. The net effect of all of these mechanisms is to increase the neurotransmitter in the synapse. There is no known resistance effect to antidepressants. If a medication like prozac works to treat your depression it'll keep working in the future, your body won't become used to it and stop working altogether. This is not the same for amphetamines and other medications to whom the body does create resistance and hence need higher doses to get the same effect.

Other Answers:
i don,t think so antidepressants are a low feeling and amphtheamines are high and make you speedy.
