on the brink of insanity?

Question:
i'm a young man with anxiety and ocd issues(on meds and had sessions with psychologist).i have quite a few ocd obsessions and compulsions under control(anxiety too).the problem is that i find it very difficult to work or perform tasks when people are looking at me(i sort of freeze).i sometimes feel like running away(when i am walking in a quiet or not so busy area) when a person(s) glances or looks at me-i have a sort of adrenaline surge and sort of jerk(as if there is danger).i know it is irrational but it has become like a reflex action(second nature)-very embarrasing in public.when people enter rooms or just pass by(rooms that i am in)i feel like taking off.i actually run (jerk) as i mentioned earlier.i have been forced to stop work because it was impossible to cope.people always judge me negatively.therapist told me it is social anxiety.has anyone heard or experienced such things.?thanking you all in advance.

Answers:
I experience that.in lines at stores.at work I used to want to hide under my desk and came so close to many times. And yes I'm VERY jumpy.and yes it is very embarrassing.maybe you need to try a new med because I'm not as bad as I use to be as long as someone is with me.

Other Answers:
You definitely sound like you have a social anxiety disorder. To others, it may seem irrational, to you, a frightening reality.
Do you think your medications are working? I am wondering if they have the right combinations and dosages of medications if you would still be experiencing such intense symptoms! Get a well recommended PSYCHIATRIST to help you get this under control. All your symptoms might not go away but maybe you can get a handle on some of it.
Keep up with your sessions with your psychologist to help you cope.
Good Luck!
that sounds rough man,

I don't know much about your issue, but sounds to me if it's social anxiety - you need to get out there and "confront your demons" as it were.. go out with people you trust and like and insert yourself into otherwise anxious situtuations (ie public places).. recondition yourself to better deal with it.

also I am sure there are jobs you can find that perhaps would allow you less stressful interactions..

anyway, I'm no expert - but I know it can be tough to deal with these sort of problems and I empathize with your situation .. good luck with it.
