Recurring Dreams.?

Question:
Hopefully somebody here can help me a little, as I think I'm starting to go coo coo. I am having alot of troble trying to fall asleep every night for the pass few months. Each night just as I fall asleep, I get awaken by very real dreams which have me throwing my fist and screaming non sense. It has gotten so bad, my wife had to get ear plugs and on bad nights, she would sleep on another bed. Mostly the dreams are really violent. Most of the time, I wake up punch thin air trying to knock someone out in my dreams. Alot of times, its floating human heads charging at me, or its people flying, and the most common one is me falling off the edge of a cruise ship, waking up screaming trying to swim for my life? Then popping right back to sleep only to be waken up by another. I'm getting very frustrated because I have to work at 9am everyday and I can't fully sleep till around 2 to 3 am in the morning. Some please help. Maybe I need to see a shrink. I'm getting very very depressed.

Answers:
Have you been playing violent video games, or watching horror flicks? That can sometimes cause those kind of dreams.. Also it's been said eating red meat before you go to bed (within a couple hours) can cause nightmares . why, I don't know. Also if you fall asleep to the tv or a movie playing.. I have nightmares when my fiance leaves on horror flicks and i fall asleep to them..
or it could be that there is some sort of "struggle" you are experiencing in your life (hence the fighting - feel like there are alot of people against you?? the drowning - you are trying to keep your head above water, but feel like you are struggling to stay afloat, wether it be financially or something else)

Other Answers:
You should see a sleep therapist, as this could be what they call night tremors, which are more severe than nightmares - and a doc could really help you.
Yes, see a good psychologist, then maybe a phychiatrist too to get sleep meds.

The best thing to do is not watch a violent show or a violent book before bed. Get a nice calm CD of the ocean or something like that to easy your mind. The other thing to do is remember that it is your dream and you can control it by thinking of a nice place you have been or fantasize about two hot women. That usually works for me.
