I just want to stop my medications but I am so suicidal I am scared to

Answers:
I don't know how I can emphasize this, TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR. If you don't feel like you are receiving adequate treatment, please get a second or even a third opinion.

Other Answers:
go back to hospital

DO NOT stop taking your med. The side effects are likely much better than the alternative! You need to talk to your doctor. Express your concerns and see if there are other meds you can try. It is very dangerous to ever stop taking anti-psychotic drugs cold turkey. Talk to a professional before you do anything! Your medication is probably regulating other more harmful things.

My best guess is go to a different doctor and see if the new one can get a better handle on it.

If you slowly stop taking it, my guess would be out of control mood swings from really up to really down with paranoia laced through both. (Had a bipolar roommate.)

Hi Angel
I suffer from post traumatic stress syndrome and I can understand the way you feel. I seriously would find a new doctor and get on different medications. I was on several before finding the right one, I do not work either but continue with my medicines and hoping one day I will be able to control my illness better.

well angel my advice is if you can't agree with your present doctor find a new one that will best suit you and be confident with. the thing is if you really have to take medications you really have to, i did stop from taking mine for my heart with the same reason as you have, and it went from bad to worse..my condition, so please see a doctor to will get your attention and make you take your medication, before it's too late. Go to a different doctor. the one you have seems to think adjusting your doseage is the answer when it looks to me like you need to explore a completely different set of meds.
You already know what will happen if you stop taking the meds altogether.you'll return to the merry-go-round of manic episodes and depressive periods.. only you know if your symptoms are mild enough that treatment is worse than the condition.
Good luck, Darlin'.

What is the reason you are so suicidal? Do you know? You have to find the root of the problem first. Some times I just feel like all is lost, but I know things get better if you work at them. I would not stop all together, that would not be good. Maybe you should try just a half dose in the morning and the other half before bed. Ask your doctor first. OK! I have a brother that has the same problem. They have him on meds, it took awhile to find the right combination. Get a second opinion dont stop taking your meds, but seek the help of another doctor.

occasionally it takes a long long time to figure out what kinds of combinations work best.. different things work differently for different people.. I am also bipolar.. a combination of Seroquel and Lamictal has kept me very stable. I would suggest that you keep the doctors very imformed of how you are feeling and let them tinker with different combination of different medicines ..
Stopping the medication suddenly typically has worse side effects than the medication does while you are taking it.. I am sure you worked your way up to whatever the dosage is.. and the opposite is true.. you will probably have to decrease the dosage slowly.
being bipolar usually means medication for life, and it is well known that without proper treatment the effects of the affliction worsen over time.. either with intensity or shorter durations between mood cycles.. you are on medication for a reason..
It might help to know that you are not alone and begin the process of accepting things for what they are.. Nobody chooses to be bipolar, they were just born with the chemical traits necessary to come out over time.
Write to me if you need to reach out someone that understands.. chances are I have been in a similar situation during the fight to be regulated with my meds.
I feel for ya.. I know it is tough sometimes.
Good Luck. :)
Send me an email if you need a lift or just want to talk about things. Most doctors have no clue of what is going on in the bipolar mind.. they just scribble notes to make themselves look important.. I wish they were also bipolar, at least then they would have a clue, right?

Never ever just stop takling your meds, trust me I know this all to well. Talk to your Psych about maybe trying a different type of medication. There are many different classes of Bi polar meds if I remember corectly. It is important to find the ones that work for YOU. I am luck to have found the medication that works for my particular mental health problem and it has changed my life for the better. I urge you to do the same. hmmm.

I think you are just kidding..

any was just try Meditation from a good Guru

It will surely work.

What ever you do DO NOT stop taking your meds. You know what the results are and they are worse than the side effects.

Go back to your doctor. If you can't get the results you need there see another one. One that specializes in this disorder.

I once met a woman on-line. She showed me some of her art work. While good they all reflected a dark desperate sole.

Later on I contacted her again and she shared her more recent art. You would not believe the difference. Lite and bright and sunshine. She then told me she was bipolar and was on meds and felt so much better.

I am no expert but I think there is help. You must find it.
