is there really an in born multiple personality disorder or it just occur cause by improper treatment?

Question:

Answers:
Multiple Personality Disorder is still a very controversial diagnosis - particularly because it's so rare that it's been hard to conduct studies on the disorder to determine causes. From all the case studies that have been published, it has been suggested that the primary cause of this problem is severely abusive treatment in childhood or adolescence that leads to a dissociation reaction to cope with the trauma. However, as with anything in mental health, there's likely also some sort of genetic/biological predisposition to reacting to trauma with a dissociative coping mechanism.

according to my psych teacher all psychological disorders you are born with, this would include MPSD. Although I can see where something like that might develope espically after PTSD.

I asked myself this question just the other day-as soon as he gets back with me-I'll let you know. I developed this when I was poor, and when i notified my employer, I had this , I started getting 2 paychecks, and he could not fire me because of the American with Disabilities Act, now I am no longer poor.

from personal experience I can tell you that with being bipolar.. At the very top of my manic swing.. I have this odd detachment as if I am a powerless puppet dangling at the bottom of my own strings.. something other tham me is controlling my actions but it is me the whole time.. almost like being possessed by myself in some kind of really crazy, dysfunctional way. And being bipolar is something you are born with.. a chemical imbalance of the brain, it takes a while for the traits to expose themselves.. so my answer is no.. I had a rough childhood and a few stressful times in my life.. but I am almost positive by issues were the result of a lack in diagnosis for a long, long time.
I have done very limited research on multiple personalities.. but what I have read leads me to believe it might be an over-the-top variation of PTSD.. something has triggered this somehow.. maybe it was a violent or sexual situation that has forced someone to create a new identity within themselves to hide from the cruel unfortunate reality their mind will not allow them to cope with or accept. I am of two minds about this.
