How to stop panic attacks?
Question:
Answers:
Panic attacks are a crippling problem, and there are a few things you can do to stop them. First of all, let's look at how you deal with a panic attack that you're having right now. What you need to do is tell yourself three things:
1. It's just a panic attack.
2. I'm not going to die.
3. Just focus on breathing.
The breathing exercise is the most important part. You want to control your breathing by counting the seconds between each deep breath and each release of that deep breath. So sit down somewhere away from the crowd and take a deep breath. Hold it for 5 seconds, then let it out over 5 more seconds, then hold it for 5 seconds, then let it out for 5 seconds. Then, move to 6 seconds, and so forth, to see how long you can make each breath last.
Once you're through your panic attack, it would be good to go make an appoint with your doctor/physician/psychologist. Generally speaking, if a physician hears your story, they will refer you to a mental health professional who will do two things:
1. Begin something called cognitive behavioral therapy. It sounds like your symptoms happen only in social situations or around large groups. Your mental health professional will probably start to help you see how irrational your fear of large groups is, what we call Agoraphobia.
2. Your mental health professional may put you on something called benzodiazepines like Xanax or Alprazolam, just to stop the panic attacks that are happening now. Once those are under control they will probably try to ween you off the benzos and get you on a steady SSRI like Celexa, Paxil, Zoloft, or Prozac.
Once they get you on that Paxil, you should be on your way to a socially acceptable future.

see a doctor, you could be put on something that would ease that, i think it would be good for you. Paxil is for anxiety, i think.
go see a psyciatrist
it baffles me after 2 years why you wouldn't have gone yet
first, do not worry about pain attack if u ever have one, cuz if u keep worry about it, then panic attack will come again and again. Then just breathe slowly
figure out what set it off 2 years ago. convive your self you can do it. breath man breath! restart with places that have smaller groups.
Hi there. If you go to your doctor they will prescribe you a pill to take only when needed called Xanax. It will relax you and keep you calm so you can go to social functions. Also, since it's addicting you can't stay on it very long so they should prescribe you medicine called Paxil. It's made especially for your symptoms. The Paxil you will take on a daily basis and will be better in a week or two. Please at least speak to your doctor about it for your own sake and for your life ............ get your life back sweetie cuz you're too young to be staying home.
Well, it sounds like there is more to it than just a slight problem. I had a little of this in college before a big test..i tried yoga and deep breathing techiques and it helped. You might alos try a counselor...you might need a mild medication...Good luck
You need to go to a doctor and get treatment for anxiety disorder. I have a friend whose wife suffers from this and she takes medication and it has helped her greatly.
If you are a minor discuss this with your parents.
If you're serious, then I would recommend that you go to the doctor and tell him/her about your problems. They make medication for social anxiety, and trust me, it really really really really helps. I speak from experience. Other wise, you could try learning some breathing exercises that will help with you're heart rate. Good luck to you.
Try breathing in and out real deeply. Count slowly and each intake and out breath matches the count. Hold the intake of breath longer and longer and you'll find urself calming down. But this is just to help when u have those attacks. To avoid the attacks figure out wht exactly triggers it off and then change the situation. I think it wld help if you remembered 'forever trust in who you are and nothing else matters'.
if you can go to the doctor go, they will perscribe you something. when this happens try to breathe deep or remove yourself from the situation until you can calm down, dont force yourself through it. when this happens your blood pressure and heart rate rise and that is dangerous to your health. if you cant get a script see if anyone is selling xanax or valume or something and take one before you go out.
see a therapist and go out with people you are comfortable with
There are medications your dr. can prescribe. I take Ativan. Theres also klonopin and xanax.
