does anyone have experience w/ the drug Zoloft? Does it cause weight gain??

Question:

Answers:
Zoloft actually causes weight LOSS. At least, that was my experience, and that was a fairly common side effect in the drug trials.

I've been very happy with Zoloft. Everybody has a different chemical makeup, however, and some antidepressants may work better for you than others.

Other Answers:
I was on it for one day. It made me violently sick. My doctor switched me to Paxil.
I was on zoloft in combination with some other medications. It didn't work for me. I think it can cause weight gain, that's a side effect of a number of anti depressants and mood stabilizers. You should discuss any concerns with your doctor.
I hated it. It made me very anxious. There is a term for it called zoloft tears. But others love it. Each medication is different for everybody. Here is what others said at the link below.

BTW, no weight gain on zoloft. I liked lexapro better.
Generally, Zoloft does NOT cause weight gain.
Side effects differ from person to person. I have been on Zoloft for four years and it has not caused me to gain weight - the only lasting side effect I have is that I yawn a lot. I gained weight on Cipramil, but most others don't. Also, Zoloft generally helps with anxiety, after the first three or four weeks, but of course, some people do become more anxious on it. The general rule is, check in with your doctor early and often and any side effects that you are worried about, talk about them. Often they are transient (like headaches or nausea), It may affect your appetite, which of course can cause you to gain or lose weight. Best of luck.
I took Zoloft back in 2000. I didn't like that it made me feel zoned out of everything. I sat and listened to things that I normally would have gone ballastic about, and did nothing. I had the doctor change me to something else and they put me on Paxcil. I think any anti depressant put on weight.
It can cause weight gain, that's usually a side effect of most anti-depressants. I was on it and it made me feel really agitated all the time!
