how do I stop daydreaming so much?

Question:
I find myself daydreaming so much. Too much, actually. Whenever I read a book or study my thoughgts start to drift into dream land. It really hinders me from concentrating in school or studying as much as I want. I usually day dream about things that may happen in the future, or even things that can never happen. I think my mind is swimming in some sort of fantasy world. I would really like to solve this problem before September when school starts so that I can concentrate more in school. Please help!

There could be different reasons.

Do you have unresolved issues? Often when there pending situations, it will distract you not necessarily to think about them but generally preventing you from focus. Perhaps you have situations in your life that need closure.

Are you getting enough sleep? We all need different amounts but not enough will make it easy to day dream because you mind is lacking the release that comes from enough sleep.

Of course daydreaming is a fine and fun outlet. Yet when you see it interfering in your ability to concentrate on important things, you are smart to address it this way. Consider adding more sleep and make sure you dont have postponed items in you life that need resolution.

Good luck and lucky for you its before school. Sounds like your giving it the attention to start off school on the right foot !!.

Why do you want to stop? lol I used to do that a lot when I was younger (I"m 23) and, now that I think about it, I've just stopped more or less. Oh, sure, there's still that odd time when I'm bored, but I guess it's got something to do with growing up. And I'm sure you won't daydream as much when you go to school. You're probably just bored of sitting at home. I hope this helps.
daydreams are usually a sign that you are overly worried or anxious about the future. first off, if youre not doing what you want to be doing, then change course. your future will not come to you any faster by thinking about it. focus on NOW so that those impossible dreams become a reality
Hmm... I have the same ailment as yours- if you called it ailment. but i dont think it hinder me from concentrating in my study in the past. Usually i daydream when the subject is too boring and i started yawning- so to cure that i think of 'something wonderful' but at the same time i also listen to bits and pieces the lecturer is saying. I dont leave behind my body while my mind completely wanders around in cloud 9. but maybe it's me, because i could never stay focus on 1 thing, even when im doing my work, my brain is somewhere else also. so i think you have to learn to maximize the use of your brain....
