Is Zoloft really bad for your liver?

Question:
I've been on Zoloft for over a year. It doesn't seem to be doing much for me, but now I am worried after being told by friends that Zoloft is very bad for your liver. I haven't heard anything about this. Yet my friends were shocked that my family dr. would even prescribe it to me knowing its bad effects on the liver.

Any help would be appreciated. Oh and yes I will be asking my doctor but right now I am on vacation and won't be seeing him for quite some time.

Answers:
Zoloft is a SSRI antidepressant manufactured by Pfizer. It is used for the treatment of depression, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder, among others.

Zoloft works by inhibiting the re-uptake of serotonin between neural connections. This action leaves more serotonin available to transfer neural electrical messages more smoothly and efficiently.

Zoloft has been the focus of several patient and family complaints concerning the drug's side effects. Many of the SSRIs have been reported by patients to induce agitated, suicidal or homicidal behavior. There are also know cases of liver damage or liver failure.

ALL DRUGS ARE BAD FOR YOUR LIVER

ANYTHING ELSE IS A LIE
Anything in excess is bad for your liver. You may want to consider acupuncture for drug-free depression/anxiey treatment. I was on 3 medications before and wanted to not have to take them anymore, and have not had to take anything for 3 months.
What drugs arent bad for your live?
I hope not!!

But now that my anxiety is gone, I am going to try to get off of Zoloft. I hate being reliant on medication to get me through life.
