First of all, congrats on seeking therapy. I am bi-polar and it took me a long time to work up the nerve to tell someone what I was going through. It's very scary at first, I felt very overwhelmed. I found a wonderful doctor that worked with me, answered all my questions and most of all, just listened. It took a while to find someone I liked. You don't have to accept the first (or second, or 50th) doctor you go to. Find someone you feel comfortable with and whose philosphies work with you. There are so many resources for someone like yourself. There are online support groups and live support groups. Look up NAMI online. They are an awesome resource when it comes to dealing with bi-polar disorder. Remember, when you find a doc you like, tell them EVERYTHING. That way, they can know what's the best thing to do for you. Good luck and stay strong.

i know its hard to cope with, i hate to cope with my boyfriend having bi-polar, add, adhd, and delixia, and i`m still dealing with it just give it some time.

It's bipolar sugar, and read up as much as you can on it...like any other disease or illness, there are different 'levels' per se...not everyone has it to the same degree and there will be different symptoms...don't spend too much time worrying about how bad it might get, concentrate on how you feel now and what is needed to feel better...
Get a good psychiatrist and therapist...meds and counseling are the key for many...do a search online for bipolar groups, I'm sure they exist, it's not an uncommon illness and for many, is quite treatable...

If you have a a competent Doctor they will work with you until your medications are at a level where you can function without problems. Yes you won't have the highs any more but you won't have the lows any more either. Many people think that they will not feel anything. That is wrong. You can still feel love, sadness, anger, happiness, contentment, all of the human emotions.
