Does mixing alcohol with fizzy drinks increase their effect ? I am trying to avoid getting drunk not enhance?
Question:
Answers:
In my humble opinion and not so humble experience it does increase the effect as carbonated drinks also dehydrate you more than still drinks and it's the dehydrating of the body that gives alcohol its potency. Therefore, mixing alcohol: a dehydrator with another dehydrator = the mother of all hangovers!

I always thought the amount of volume percentage of the drink will still be effective its straight drunk or mixed with a fizzy drink.
I think there would still be the same amount of alcohol present so it wouldn't really matter. I get drunk lots so i speak from experience. if trying to avoid getting drunk, i find not drinking alcohol does exactly the job i'm after
It doesn't impact it either way. Alcohol is alcohol. How drunk you are is determined by how big you are, your sex, your tolerance, your hormones, how much you have eaten, your genetics and more.
If you are trying not to get drunk, pace yourself to one drink or less an hour and eat a big fatty meal before you drink and more food while you drink.
if you wanna AVOID getting drunk. then don't drink! lol. but seriously hun. first of all, nurse your drinks, don't slam 'em. Second, don't hold back on the munchies - I don't mean the peanuts in the bowl either. EAT. And lastly. take 2 (whatever you take for a headache) BEFORE you lose your common sense. that will tend to lessen the hangover, if you get that ripped. You know, I have always heard that. I frequently dilute my alcohol with carbonated beverages. And I have NOT noticed an enhanced effect caused by the carbonation.
I think, and this is only an opinon, is people will gulp down a giant glass of cola and not think twice about it. If they are in that habit and there is alcohol in it, for one they may not realize how much alcohol is in it and secondly, they may not actually realize how much they are drinking.
Mixing alcohol with fizzy drinks makes it taste like the fizzy drink so you drink it faster and get drunk faster too. The best way to avoid getting drunk is to drink less. Now, if you drink a 1:1 water:alcohol ratio, you may have a less painful hangover.
One drink an hour.drink WATER in between drinks..eat a meal before drinking.
My advice: stay away from tequila and whiskey. Hard liquors, when mixed, help you not realize just how much you re drinking or how quickly.
If you don't want to get drunk, be the designated driver! A lot of bars will give you free non-alcoholic beverages if you are the DD for the night. No matter how much you dilute your drink - the volume of alcohol remains the same. It's the rate of absorbtion that makes the difference ( empty stomach has the worst / most rapid effect)
Try a stomach lining before drinking alcohol. ( fatty foods / milk / few chomps of canned sardines)
