How canI be a better parent with major depression and a chemical imbalance ?
Question:
Answers:
Consider removing yourself or your husband temporariy, if you feel any of the 3 of you are in danger. Worry about your child first, then yourself, then your husband.
Try to get your husband to go to a psychiatrist who also does phsycho-pharmacology. It should be someone willing to do a lot of talking to him about his depression, etc and who does not necessarily believe the first thing is to place him on drugs.
Drugs may be the answer but they should never be prescribed without constant monitoring for a mental health patient. Sometimes doses and combinations must be varied for years to find something that works for both the patient and loved ones.
You should also try to get yourself some counseling and relief to deal with your own stress and to help you cope as it is appears you want to maintain your child's relationship with him.
Good luck

it really depends on the chemical imbalance. is it Bi polar? if it is i suggest a really good psychiatrist and COUNSELOR. Therapy sessions will work great for him.
it will be really hard for your son if your husband/bf has mood swings. I've lived with 4 bi polars so I know. It's quite hard
Try to explain that to your husband. If you feel you or your child are in danger, remove yourself from the situation. Your husband needs to see a doctor for treatment. When a person has what your husband has, they often don't see themselves having a problem.
