Im Bi Polar?
Question:

It would seem that you do need to admit yourself into a hospital ward, so you appear to at least be trying to work with your doctors. In the first place your medications were not regulated enough or monitored enough for you, if you were under a Psychiatrists care. Only a Psychiatrist should be giving you bi-polar medication! I am on Trazadone, Klonopin, and Paxil. The Trazadone, seems to turn off my brain enough for me to sleep. The Klonopin seems to help my Restless Leg Syndrome, and the Paxil is a serotonin uptake inhibitor. The very nature of Bi-polar disease is that part of the time one gets so depressed it actually hurts to go on living, without medication. No responsible Psychiatrist would ever take you off your medications! They may wish to change the meds but Never take a Bi-polar person off medication!

If they think you're suicidal (which you apparently are) you most likely will have to go through extensive therapy. They may even want you to be in-patient for a while, until you are not a threat to yourself. I'm surprised you weren't commited-generally if you attempt suicide they put you in the mental ward of the hospital for ten days. I would go see your doctor and see what your options are. I have tri polar.Have heard this before?
Yes.
Admit yourself for a psyc. eval. If you take yourself in you are showing that you care enough about the other people in your life to fix what's wrong in your situation.
You may have to be off your meds for a bit before they give you something new to try.
Hi,
Have you been in therapy before? It sounds like you need more help than meds alone can offer. If money is a problem, contact your local Community Mental Health agency for therapists on a sliding fee scale. You might want to ask them about DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and see if you are a candidate for this treatment. It can help you manage your feelings and your urge to act impulsively and can give you the power to feel more in control of your life. This treatment was originally created for people with Borderline Personality Disorder, but many feel it can be effective for someone with Bi Polar Disorder as well. I used to work at a Crisis Treatment Center and have seen it help many people. I understand why your doctors are wary about prescribing meds again, because if you continue to overdose, there is a real possibility of long term damage to your body that could leave you disabled. Ask them what you would need to do to make them feel safe to prescribe your medication again if they haven't talked this over with you yet. My experience, in both my own life and in the lives of the people I assisted at the Crisis Center, is that when we view ourselves as helpless and see others as the only ones with power over our lives, we can never make a change in the direction of our life. We remain helpless and stuck. When we can understand how our actions and decisions affect us and how they affect the reactions of those around us, we can make great changes in our lives. I have seen this to be true over and over. Good luck.
