Question:
I was subscribed Prozac by my doctor but I am very worried,I did a research and it turned out Prozac might lead to many side effects.I took my first pill today and I feel dizzy and not well at all.I am not sure I should continue with it.How dangerous is Prozac? Can I return to normal even after that first pill I took?Do I have to do anything to withdraw from this first pill? Thanks!

Answers:
I am a nurse in a mental health facitity and this is what I can tell you. As far as antidepressants go, it is the safest. Feeling sick ussually goes away in a week to ten days. if it is bad, call the doctor and start on a low dose ussually 10 mg then increase it to 20mg. If you choose to stop there will be no "withdrawl". However if you are suffering from depression I would give it a shot. Through studies they have discovered that prozac is the only drug safe enough for people under 18 yrs old. I hope this helps and good luck. My only other thing is if you cant get rid of the side effects there are other antidepressants that might work better with you body chemisty like wellbutrin or cymbalta.
My daughter was taking that too and in her first week she got really sick so i made her stop taking them and she's been fine every sense...I called the doc and he told me to tell her to keep taking them...alot they know!!
