Blood donor. For free?

Question:
You know I've always dreamed of giving blood to the person which needs it more than I do. For free, of course. I think it's OK for all of us. More or less. But what about giving your heart? Or something else of your body, when you are dead? Sorry for the people who are eating! lol

Answers:
Well being a regular blood donor is one of the best ways you can contribute to saving lives. I also think that being an organ donor is something most people should seriously think about doing, I myself have carried a donor card for many years.

Other Answers:
Ive carried a donor card for over 25 years

cos i certainly wont need any old bits once I'm gone lol
That's a nice sentiment. Blood can be donated every three months by a healthy person. More of us should think about organ donation. A donor card needs to be filled, and your family members must be informed. I think cornea donation is a good thing, so that blind persons can see.
You can donate blood any time by going to the red cross. A lot of college campus' offer a place to donate blood also. If you want to donate your organs and what not, there should be a place on the back of your drivers liscence to fill out. You have to have a witness there when you fill it out. A parent or spouse would work for this! Once you fill that out you kind of just become a donor. Depending on where you live will depend on if you have to have a donars card. You can also put it in your will that you would like to donate your organs to science or someone in need! that is always a safe way to know that what you want will be done.
I'm both a blood donor, and an organ donor. I've been an organ donor since the day I got my driver's license.
You can sign up to be an orgin donor. You can give blood to the red cross. If you qualify health wise and do not take medications or have infections that disqualify you.
In the UK you can sign up to the organ transplant list. Me and my hubby have both done it and discussed it with our kids when they were old enough so if anything happened to them we knew their views. We asked them when they got to about 12 years old.

As I am getting cremated it doesn't matter much if any bits are missing.

My dad died in January and my mum said it was OK for them to take anything they needed. The questions I got asked the next day were a bit personal, they asked me if he had ever had sex with another male or had sex with a prostitute.
They told me they could get the information from his medical records, The reason they asked was if he had they couldn't use his tissue and they have to take it withing the first 24 hours. I would have prefer ed they got the info from his medical records especially as it was only 18 hours after he had died.
Funny enough when my dad was alive he never discussed his sex life with me.
i have out my self down as a donor i think its ace that we can help people after Ive died well i wont feel it plus our body's are just a shell your soul goes to heaven or what ever you believe a think it ace you give blood i wish i could but because of my medication i cant :-)
id love ot be a donor but im one of the thousands who recieved other peoples blood products so i thank you all it really does save lifes ?i would if i could organs an all but i cant?
i will not carry a donor card as under current laws it is not my choice

if i carry a card after my death my next of kin can still refuse and my wishes will be totally ignored

my husband knows my wishes

if the law is ever changed to prevent next of kin over riding the choice of the person who died (making the donor card legally binding) i will get a donor card immediatly
