No it is not weird you are just over compensating for your fear. You really need to try and find something that you can mentally think of that will calm you down. Deep breathing will work too, take a deep breath in through your nose and fill your lungs and hold for ten seconds, then breathe out slowly until your lungs are empty and repeat. I have had panic attacks off and on for years and once your body learns and you mind learns that you are in control you will be fine. Try what athletes do and visualise the situation that causes your attacks, but continue until you see that you will be safe and okay without an attack. Also try writing in a journal every time you have an attack and read back through them after a month. You will begin to see patterns that you can correct. Make sure you are open with your therapist so that they can help adjust your medication. I found YOGA to be an awesome stress reducer and once I realised my triggers then I was able to loose my attacks. I have not had one in over 15 years so I must have done something right. Good luck!
This is a real prolem which many suffer from and there is nothing to be ashamed of. It sounds like agoraphobia mixed with social anxiety and separation anxiety. Keep working on your issues, exercise a lot, and know that you won't be this way forever.
I used to have panic attacks in my teen years too. You just have to use calming techniques and I found great comfort in praying. God gave me great comfort because I knew he was right there with me and he cares about me. And no, you aren't too old to be having these problems. There are many other people who have anxiety disorders too. Turn to Jesus when all else fails. It really does help.

nothing will make this go away overnight...it will take time with medications and therapy, but things will get better.

First of all you are very young. Panic/phobia/anxiety is common in all ages. You have plenty of time to find answers and get better. Here is some advice. Fear is the necessary fuel for panic attacks, and you're definitely feeding it! If you can't work against your darkest fear, you might as well work with it. Invite your phobias into the classroom and play with it, laugh at it! This is very hard at first but you must try your best. It may take days, weeks or months but you will see if you invite and observe your fears they will soon become very irrational (which they are in the first place).
I know this stuff is rough. I have panick disorder, phobias and agoraphobia. I am 33 and find some days harder than other days. Mine is mostly when going into stores... and any place where there is medicine.
Being on medicine is not the only thing you need to do. Getting better always seems to take longer than it takes to come down with something. However, if you work on it, and work through the panick attacks, like have your teacher walk out of the room for a few minutes.. giving yourself small successes.. working on up to the big successes.
You have to have your body know that its alright.. and the panick attacks are okay... Its called desentizing yourself to them. Breath through them... (instead of a paperbag.. you can cup your hands around your mouth and nose.. it doesnt look as bad as a paperbag LOL)
I also have been trying hypnosysis. It has helped calmed me down a bit.
unfortunately panick is one of those things that tends to grow in other places. I started having it while driving.. but i used to be able to go into stores. .. then it got so bad i couldnt go into stores. .. it started going elsewhere cuz the agoraphobia was making me think too much and fear panick attacks happening elsewhere.
You are young and can get over this. Just have to work at it.. and let yourself be happy over small successes. They will get better over time. :)

Hi! Welcome to the wonderful world of panic attacks! Your'e far from alone and not too old, believe me! I didn't get help till I was in my forties! Sounds like a change in meds is in order. I had to try half a dozen to find one that suited me and really worked. Your teenage hormone surges are probably making life more crazy than usual, right? And when there's panic and phobias, there's depression, right? Panic takes a big toll on your mind and body, ya know? And I used to have attacks because I thought about having attacks too. Mood disorders come from a chemical imbalance, lack of seratonin going to the brain. It's the feel good stuff that keeps us calm. Without correct meds, our mind races a million miles a minute...the "what ifs". We get to suckin' up so much oxygen because wer'e actually breathing to fast, we get dizzy, our heart palpitates, our hands shake, we get a surge of adrenalin,and we think wer'e going to nut up! Right? We won't. We may panic, but not literally go crazy. It just feels like it when our mind gets cloudy and disoriented. Sooooo, next attack, do this. Take a deep breath, hold it, release on count of four, slowly. Do it for a minute..you have sucked in to much oxygen, remember? Sounds crazy, but it's true! I used to be afraid of being alone, having the doors locked in the car, shopping, especially being at the checkout, signing my name on my check in front of the teller at the bank..I tell ya, I had the phobias! And I got so anxious, I became a tad OCD...I would count stuff! I'd be afraid to leave the house and have to go back just to make the curling iron was off! Sometimes, I even felt like dying, BUT ya gotta get a medicine that works, and there is soooooo many different ones. One will work, believe me! Maybe even a xanax with the antidepressent would help you until the med kicks in to full bore. Good luck, do your breathing, and check back, please! Hugs to you! oooooooooooooooooooooooo
I had panic attacks for a LONG time, and sometimes I still do, It's been about a year and I still don't feel as normal as I did before I had them. Mine however were drug related combined with social anxiety that I felt since I was young.

Basically the main points from it are:
-When you panic or feel anxiety, remember you are just dealing with stress, everyone deals with it, from tiny things to huge things, you will have things to think about that cause stress.
-The biggest factor in anxiety is HOW YOU REACT TO STRESS. If for example you fear being locked out, or in a room with no teachers, in your mind (especially if you've panicked before) you fear the worst, causing more stress, your mind recalls past panic attacks and adds to the stress (the same way your mind recalls feelings of happiness or sadness from pictures of say Graduation, etc.)
-And something it took me awhile to realize, when you're panicking, your body WILL react to what your mind is telling it. If you're telling myself OH MY GOD IM LOCKED OUT, or OH MY GOD THERES NO TEACHERS IN HERE IM GOING TO FLIP. Your body automatically responds to your minds "overexxageration" and produces adrenaline which cause panic like symptoms. If you try to fight your feelings or tell yourself OH MY GOD WHAT IF IT GETS WORSE! I CANT LET IT GET WORSE!! Let those feelings go, and allow the panic and anxiety to take over for a moment, then notice how quickly it goes away when your mind says "Oh so this is the worst that will happen" and the panic slowly fades away.
-The only real way to eliminate panic attacks and anxiety are to change your thoughts. Instead of thinking negative thoughts, try for once actually thinking positive, or of the best possible outcome, even if you don't believe in it yourself. You'd be surprised how rapidly your mind erases the connections that led to the road of panic, and builds new ones that take you back to the path of normality.
