Why doesn't my doctor diagnose me?
Question:
I don't have an opinion about myself. I feel i am a burden and a nothing, not important. Although i would do anything for people i love just to show that maybe i am useful. I hve mood swings and enjoy spending money on other people and myself although this doesnt make me happy. I an be verbally aggressive and rant and rave at the top of my voice for no reason. I also have terrible dreams about bad things happening to peoplei love, even when im awake. I can stay awake for days or sleep for days depending on the mood. I kind of always know what i am doing although sometimes the outcome is different than i thought it would be. There is more but im running out of characters. On Antideps and olanzipine but no diagnosis!!

You might try having your doctor prescribe Imipramine for nightmares. That's what they make it for. It took mine away. Works great.
Your doctor has to have a diagnosis to prescribe any medication. Just ask him what it is. Or request a copy of your medical records. It will be there.
Sounds like your Bipolar to me. Good Luck!
You sound like me and just about everyone else I've ever tolerated well enough to know. Aside from your drug addiction (diazipam), you don't need a diagnosis. You think you want antidepressants and something to calm you down, so your doctor gives it to you to shut you up and get you out of their office. Why do you want a label so badly anyways?
I went to counseling for a year, but in the end I actually chose not to be diagnosed, I didn't really need to know, I didn't need a label I just needed to get better. And I did get better and I am still working ever day to get better, putting a label on it isn't necessary. My counselor gave me the option before I left of whether or not I wanted to be diagnosed and even tho originally I did want to know, eventually I got better and realized that it didn't really matter
In order to prescribe medications, your doctor has to diagnose you.
And if you believe your doctor has NOT diagnosed you, what difference does it make? A diagnosis is only a label. You are a person, not a diagnosis.
For some more insight into this, why don't you do a google search for Mary Ellen Copeland and an article she wrote entitled, "Being the Expert on Yourself." It's wonderful!
Sometimes when it comes to things as complex as the human mind there can be no definitive diagnoses, all that they can do at that point it make the symptoms less severe. I would rater be undiagnosed and treated for what I was feeling than be misdiagnosed and be forced to fit my illness under a certain category.
the meds, are for depression ,that is whats wrong =you also have low self-esteem and are anxious and tend to be bit suicidal=next visit ,ask the Dr to tell you exactly what you are diagnosed with
It sounds to me like you already have a diagnosis.
If I am correct you are looking for a label that says something about you.
Here is a question. Will a label make you feel better or will it just provide you with an excuse for how you behave?
How do you know when to behave badly?
If you know this then you realize that you are choosing your behavior.

What do YOU think it is?Have you done any research? I know they have great new drugs on the market now and of course- are you in counseling?
Do you take your drugs diligently?

Sometimes it's better for people not to have labels. He's obviously trying to help with the meds so I wouldn't worry about getting a diagnosis.
Your regular family physician isn't really capable of diagnosing what you do or do not have. They can ask you questions and from there evaluate your need for medication but a true diagnosis will only come from a liscensed phychiatrist.
Research Bi-polar and borderline and present it to your doc the next time you see them
