Suicide and your opinion?
Question:
If they really want to do it then hospitalizing them, and forcing them meds and therapy they don't want isn't right in my opinion.
What do you believe?
Answers:
Don't take this the wrong way, but are you manic right now? It sounds that way a little to me, and not that that's a bad thing, just pointing it out.
Generally, when it comes to EUTHANASIA I'm supportive. Terminally ill people in pain, why shouldn't they be allowed to pass on? However when it comes to mentally ill people, there has to be acknowledgement that they're feeling at the time isn't what they'll feel the next day. I'm sure you know that, and especially with sucessful medication, that person might never feel that way again.
I take it that you've had bad experiences with medication, and I can sympathize. The medications out there these days are so hit or miss, and it's pretty much putting on a blindfold and grabbing a handful for doctors to prescribe them (at first anyway, with work they can figure out what's right). Eventually they will be able to evaluate your brain and blood and figure out what would work best for you. Until then, this is about as good as we can do. The wrong medications can steal your soul from you for the time, but the right ones can set you free.
In any case, it comes back to the question of: Why let people kill themselves over how they're feeling now? People, especially ones who use medication and therapy to their benefit, get past the suicidal feelings and WANT to live again and do so and are better for it. They'd have regreted killing themselves if it was even possible to regret after that. Not to mention the pain it would cause the people around you. Sometimes, in a fit of manic rage or bottomless depression, you might feel like they don't matter or would be better off without you, but in the end you know it'd be painful for them.
Anyway, interesting question, glad you asked.
I believe it is always worth trying to get them to change their minds.
One way ticket to hell.
Have you tried placing lit cigarettes out on your bare nipples? that always cheers me up
people who want to commit suicide are most likely going thru a rough period. why not stop them from doing somethin permanent over somethin temporary. most issues are fixable with help. people need to stop being so quick to jump and just ask for help
i think people do thesekinds of things because they care so much about the person who wants to take their own life.
one of my friends recently told me he is suicidal, and so now he is seeing a psychiatrist and doctor and everything to try to make him better. he doesnt want it, but thats what everyone around him thinks is right and so do his parents.
its a tough topic since the ones who are actually suicidal do not want to be bothered and want to do what they feel is right, but the people around them who care about them really want to protect them and help them out
its a very tough call, because there have been people who wanted to commit suicide, but it was only stage and they just passed that and were glad people supported them.
however I have experienced a persons death and it did make me think that if someone is on their death bed, there is absolutely no reason why they should suffer for nothing.
It's not what I believe it's what I know, it's legal in Arkansas and the cops can't even try to stop you. Isn't that wierd because the idiot cops can arrest you for public intoxication if you, in their opinion consider you a threat to others or, get this crap, YOURSELF!
Both my brother and I faced emotional problems in our lives and at one point or another I know suicide had crossed both of our minds. That was years and go, and while my experience was so painful I could understand why someone might want to, I do know from personal experience that people WILL AND DO getter better. I wished so much that something would take my brothers pain away and what I faced as well, but suicide is not the answer. Here I am years later, and both my brother and I are leading happy and healthy lives. Suicide is not the answer to escape the pain. There is help available.
Because alot of time there is a problem that needs to fixed in that person's life. Some people get depressed and need medications to help keep balanced. I would rather try to save someone then to just sit back and let someone take their life.
Some people experience bouts of depression or maybe are having a "nervous breakdown". Where in that stage of there life they feel that way, but once they seem to be recovering from the depression or breakdown they may not feel the same way, have the same suicidal thoughts they once had.
let them die
its what they want
I beleive that if someone wants to die they will in fact end their life..instead of half way doing it. That would in fact take care of the thrird party interferring. Most people are asking for attention or help and half way attempt to kill theirselves.
Tha is why people interfere becaise the person trying to kill theirselves arent really seriously doing it..they want help or attention.
Personally I dont believe in taking your life..but if thats what you want to do..dont make it a waste donate your organs.
i think that many many many of those people that you are sympathizing with being able to do what they truely want to do are really in fact ill and not in any position to claim their fate as they are medically or emotionally ill. it is those people that the hospital and the human race in general reach out to with a helping hand in a great time of need. the confused and ill people who in a great time of distress claim the fate of death. these are not the people who when having a better day are any where close to wanting to claim their fate. were we to allow people to just senselessly claim their life we would be turning a cold heart to a person who in a time of distress need a helping hand. suicide is generally a fleeting response to a bad situation not a well thought out desire when all of life is calm.
I have he same problem! omg! putting them in the hospital just makes you feel crappier so you REALLY wanna die!
I have always said it would be a miracle if I made it to 40. I am now 37 and I still think that. I have had some really bad times and I have had some really good times.
It really depends on the situation and the person. I do have to agree that most of the time it is a temporary problem. Some people vocalize their intentions for the pure reason to get someone to help them. Some people never say anything and succeed at doing it. There is also alot in the middle. I've been on meds for years now and without them, I would have ended it a few times.
Oddly enough, the act of suicide is against the law in most states, but attempting it and surviving does not bring any legal action.
Well first of all I am sorry you have had problems in the past, I have too, as well as my mom and dad who both have mental problems (including needing hospitalization many times) and I have to say that when a person is in a "sick" frame of mind, they wish for things they wouldn't if they were ill, including wishing to die.
I wanta die too.my life is so fucked up right now. But rember, your soul just comes RIGHT back and you have to face the same proplems again..
Many don't understand it is only the false part of them that wants to die.
Who you truly are is not in the least suicidal..
Who you are is untouched by all in your life that was ever bad.
Forcing meds? they have a choice as always. Maybe kids don't, but adults do. Society frowns on suicide and nobody wants to be held responsible for someones death .So if a person shows signs of suicide and is serious, they are going to be stopped. Depression can make people not think clearly, and feel helpless.
