My dad has epilepsy could you help me?

Question:
when my dad gets a seizure i get paranoid and i start screaming and after that i feel mad at my self for not helping what is the best thing i could do

Answers:
I'm sorry, that must be a very scary experience. Has anyone educated you about seizures and what you should do when your dad has one. I have found that being informed about something tends to make me less afraid when facing it. Talk to a nurse if you can. Also, ask your dad what he would like you to do when he has a seizure. It may be that he does not expect you to do anything, and if that is the case, then you don't have to feel mad at yourself anymore.
Speak with your Dad about you and him talking to his doctor. But in the mean time, when he starts to seiz move everything out of his way that could hurt him. Keeping him safe while he is seizing is a beginning and very helpful. Depending on how bad they are, ask him if he wants you to call 911. Its ok to be scared. It can be a freighting thing to see.
The best thing you can do is to try and tell yourself that your dad is okay. Then breath. It sounds to me like your nurves are getting to you. Nobody likes to see there dad helpless, and you screaming just might actually help. You might be getting somebodies attention that can better help your dad then you.
Well, try to breath through it.

all you can do is really nothing, just dont let him lay on his side. or tilt his head back. he will be very strong during this time so dont try to move him. call911 and they will help you with detales, seizures are very scary to experence, my daughter had them for years before she stopped, and each one is as scary as the first, always try to get him help.
well, just be glad you don't have it that you know of.

Anyways, it is normal, it is kind of freaky thing to witness, especially in someone you're close to. I imagine, at some point, you will get over your immature reaction and learn to be calm and supportive and not make a big deal out of it.

After all, what comes around goes around, the law of karma.
So treat him the way you want to be treated if you were going through something similar. Try to learn compassion and selflessness. The world is too short of these things as it is.
Someday you will grow up and marry and have kids and your dad will one day be gone forever, so be there for him through thick and thin as he would for you.

You're young and epilepsy can be scary thing so your screaming is ok, but now that you've read this, it's time to start growing up, acting more mature and be part of what makes the world beautiful.
When your dad has a seizure go into a separete room for a minute or so and count in your head to 10 and then slowly breathe out. Make sure he dosnt bang he's head on anything and also make sure he takes he's medication.
If medication isnt working make an apoitment with a neuologist.
