Is this something wrong?

Question:
I tend to have no feelings sometimes when I watch horror movies, I do not get scared or scream; and when I was searching for documents about the Black Dahlia murder or Zodiac, Fish, Bundy, etc... I seen the victims pictures and still it did not make me sick and still continued to search about this stuff. I am a nice person and I help people that mostly I don`t even know do you think it is something wrong with me for not having feelings about horror movies, police pictures, etc? as well I always ask myself: will I cry when somebody dies? though I had a nightmare of somebody dying (relative) and I cried in my dream and woke up with tears in my eyes. So what do you think?

Answers:
Your normal, the fact that we have tended to become immune to this sort of this thing is just the way society is at the moment. We all see dead bodies on tv, or internet all the time. Dont worry.
It was just a dream
You have probably been desensitized by the media and the world around you. Sad thing, but on the other hand the fact that you are concerned about the situation makes you completely sane. You probably have a tough stomach too.
Because of the ever advancing level of violence and horror in movies and TV, I think it tends to "harden" us a bit. You are so used to seeing it now that it takes alot more to upset you. There isn't anything wrong with you that isn't wrong with most of us. The fact that you are concerned is a good sign in itself.
Don't dismiss your lack of emotions for it to be a bad thing. It just effects you differently.
You should really think about a career in police work. If your stomach can handle the pictures you described, you could be really helpful in catching the crooks who did it.

PS - I saw the photos of the victim of the Black Dahlia too and they didn't make me ill.
well it's not as if you looking at the real life thing, just pictures of situations, I'm a bit the same as you

Nark!
i wouldn't worry to much unless you start down-loading the photos & getting off on them, if you see what i mean.
think it's natural human curiosity that makes us look.
a long as you aren't searching out for more & more shocking pictures, just put in down to human nature.
if it does start to become a problem, seek help huh?
Dont worry, pictures arnt exactly there in your face your not there at the time so you dont get that feeling plus they are not close to you. This isnt something strange many people dont scream or even titch at horror things. I dont tend to cry at those sort of things only 2 thing which i wont say hahaha
No nothing rude lol
Hmmmm your relatives are very close to you thats why you would cry so the point i am saying is that the pictures/movies that is not you/ you wasnt there at the time and you dont know them. But your relatives you know so thats why u might cry :)
You would be a great person to work doing autopsys.
{ not joking serious} Theres not necessarly anything wrong with you, maybe you have the ability to seperate your feelings so you don't get upset.

Virago Jim
The only worrying thing is the question "why do you want to look at those pictures and documents "
If you have a reason other than idle curiosity, you're fine!
You'd think differently if those pictures were of a family member or friend, I'm sure.
We are bombarded with gruesome images from the media on almost a daily basis. Unfortunately sometimes that causes people to become jaded. It sounds like you separate yourself from these things because you don't see them as real, obviously you know many of the pictures are real, but they aren't right there in your face, they are only pictures.
One day you will be confronted with the death of a loved one and you will feel it. Until then as long as you don't have the feeling of wanting to hurt someone or wanting to see someone hurt I don't think I would worry too much about it. If you are really concerned seek out counseling.
i think people just have different tolerances. I too can see crime pictures and gory things and know its horrible but not feel sick... but you show me an animal thats bee slaughtered or certian things they make me cringe and feel sick. I've seen pictures of all sorts of nasty things.. its just what you can take as a person. you cried in your dream probably because it was to do with something close to your heart.

Don't worry too much about it. i think you become hard in life when u see so many nasty things happening in every day life.
I think you're just not that sensitive to unreal things. You're a pretty nice guy. Nothing's wrong with you at all. Some people just don't find those things "big" enough to cause them to have reactions psychologically and emotionally. You value your loved ones and significant things more than those mundane things.

So don't worry about it. ^^
My gf is like that and she's a nurse. Maybe a medical career is in your cards.
There is nothing wrong with you, I feel the same way, but also find myself moved to tears by completely random stuff!

I can watch the goriest stuff with glee! but had to switch off the butterfly effect when they started torching the dog in the bag!
If you want to work for the police especially forensics they weed out people who are affected by this material

Really, you have nothing to worry about
you have become de~ sensitised to this
much the same way emergency personnel become de~ sensitised to seeing and dealing with such awful things, but looking at pics and watching tv
is far different from actually being there and seeing it for yourself firsthand
you would suddenly not be de~sensitised at all
and would want to pass out or throw up or both
I think you're quite normal... my sister was like you a few years ago... now she changes, though. Who knows, maybe one day your feelings towards horror movies and photos changes. Till then, just enjoy watching horror movies without any trouble and continued being nice :)
Dude, you're absolutely normal...I mean...I know you since you were 7...this is our society.A crime and murder world with 3 years old kids who kill their mothers, priests who kill "for God" and so long...a weird world with 17 years old kids who get engaged(YAY! THAT'S ME) so...stay cool ...you're perfectly insane...just like the rest of us.
well it is not bad that you don't have feelings in these things.because you know these are not reality.but there are many people in this world who cries very oftenly.may be because they had faced many problems in their life or they like adventures.but at the same time they love the people.well if you see any bad dream you should not say to any body, because it may occur in reality &i hope this dream 'll not be true.but some times satan shows us dream to make us sad&upset.well some time dream is message for us.
I think you shouldn't worry too much. We are not all the same. If we were all squeamish types there wouldn't be forensics and people who carry out autopsies etc.

Maybe violent or bloody incidents don't make you sick but these images are of strangers, so you may be able to look at them and not feel emotion whereas you say when you dreamt something happened to a relative you were genuinely upset.

You are probably worried because there are so many of us who are squeamish and may feel nauseated at the sight of blood etc. But there aren't that many people like yourself who come out saying 'Oh, actually I don't mind looking at bloody or violent images' Lol.

I think as long as the images you look at are legal and do not hurt anyone you should just accept this is the type of person you are!
Don't worry about having no feelings when you look at this stuff, it is just the way you are. If you can not feel sad when something sad happens that is different, and your bad childhood may have something to do with this. Can you discuss it all with a counsellor?
I love watching scary movies, I can get scared a lil but I always looking foward to watching a new horror movie that I haven't seen before.

I don't go out and look for documents on serial killers or anything. I have though, watched the movies of ted bundy, jefferey dohmer, and gacey. I thought to myself that maybe somewhere along there life line one can see where they became serial killers came from. I guess in understanding. Knowing and seeing what they did to people was so gruesome it put me in awe and shock of how someone could do that to another human being. I was literaly in shock when I saw the jeffery dohmer movie. The first movie out of all the ones I watched about serial killers. I was speechless, and it was like my heart sank into my chest. I still watched it....

I to had a dream when I was a lil girl that made me cry, and when I woke up I was in tears and crying.
I was staying the night with my cousin, and we were sleeping on the same bed.
I remember the dream really clear. It was a bad dream that involved the blood of someone else. In the dream something bad happened to the person, and there was nothing I could about it. When I woke up I was crying with real tears coming from my eyes, and my cousin was asking me if I was oh k. I told her, "yes" and said nothing more it since that day until now.

You know doctors, patholigists, police, and the emergency medics all see things like that in there life. Some handle it different than others. I dont think that if you can see something gruesome and have the ability to not get sick at the stomach it makes you a bad person.
