racing thoughts can be about most anything, they are the thoughts in your head that continue to change from one thing to another over and over. Usually when you are under alot of stress they are thoughts of what is happening and what could happen. The worries, or the problems that are going on in your life that you can not control.
Racing thoughts are just random thoughts your mind generates, its natral, its the most beautiful and fun part of the mind. You can prevent them by meditating, it stills the mind.makes u relaxed.

Just calm down, have a smoke/beer, and just try and forget about everything and move on!
Racing thoughts are when you really can't concentrate on anything for a long time because you keep getting these new pieces of thoughts that distract you from the old thought.
I don't know how to make them stop by myself. The only thing that stopped them for a while was talking to my therapist who usually calmed me down a bit and the anti-depressants I took for a year. OMG, they can really make life h*ll.

Lol, this site kinda helps me because I can concentrate on trying to answer one question for a few minutes and I know I have to try to get the answer in quick if I want to be near the top of the list.
some people that have these thoughts because something is lacking-sometimes we don't know what that is.sometimes its because we are hurting and don't know what to do..meditation will help you out...i use drawing and writing to block mine and sometimes i shop and spend money on things i don't need
Racing thought are thoughts that come up one after another following a pattern but you will end up thinking something that is not even close to what you started with.
For istance say that you are hungry. Then you decide you want something to eat. Then you think that you want taco bell. Then you think about gettinga chalupa. Then you thinki about hte dog that is in the old comercials. Then you think about how Paris Hilton carries around a dog like that. Then you think about how she say im so hot in the movie "epic movie"
see how i went from being hungry to the new crazy movie. You could keep going from there. It is very fun doing stuff like this. its like a word game. it is almost impossible to stop. at least for me.
Racing thoughts are a stream of thoughts and images that run through your mind at an extremely fast pace. So fast that you can barely keep up with them and you can't focus on any one thought for any length of time.
Usually, racing thoughts are the result of anxiety, panic, nervousness or sometimes drugs (even diet pills).
To prevent racing thoughts, you must treat the cause of them if it is a chronic problem (mania or bipolar can cause racing thoughts.) Doctors can prescribe medication to treat anxiety disorders.
But if your racing thoughts are only occasional, you can try to stop them by focusing on relaxing. Gaze at a calming picture and focus on a single thought.
For example, think about your pet. Ask yourself questions that must be answered by yourself, "Did Georgie eat tonight? When was his last visit to the vet?"
Count to fifty by seeing the numbers in your head or by writing them down on a piece of paper. Do a simple math problem.
Preventing them is different. Most people at some point have thoughts race through their minds. It isn't a big problem unless it is chronic.
To avoid them, stay away from drugs. Avoid stress when possible. Use or make lists to keep organized and calm. Develop an easygoing attitude about life (try not to control everything or be a perfectionist.) Exercise regularly.
Oh, and as far as topic, racing thoughts are about anything in your life that you normally think about. They just come at lightning speed.

Racing thoughts are something that get stuck into your mind and continually repeat it itself. It can be about any thing (I found out, for me, if I don't speak up for myself, I will constantly get in my mind, what I should have said or did, and it will take over my though process completely. To overcome this I've learn to just say, out loud, 'stop' - at time I have to yell this out loud.
This allow me to think rational - okay you didn't do what you should had did to take care of yourself - this is what you will do the next time this situations happen again.
Racing Though has also being diagnosed as a Bipolar Disorder and may be treated by medication. I, personal, always seek other alternatives..

Any topic. "Racing" refers to the speed - your mind focuses on a lot of thoughts in a short period of time, and is usually obsessive and worrisome.
Staying calm and well-balanced, and using meditation or other methods to relieve stress is usually the best way to prevent this from getting out of hand.
