Waking a "real dreamer"?

Question:
When my sister sleeps she has these dreams, I call them "real dreams". She reacts to her surroundings (Us, the floor, a doll) as if she were wide awake but hilluscinating. I've had that experience, and it isn't fun, and I've tried everything to wake her up. Its like she's stuck there until her mind lets her go. Does anyone know of anyway to wake her up safely? I'm worried about her physical well being (She might fall off the bed and brake a bone, cut herself ect...)
I've tried:
Calling her name
Shaking her (Ends Badly)
dripping water on her eyelids

Everything.
I would really appreciate some of your ideas, I'm extremely worried.

Answers:
The suggestions I've heard for sleep walkers is to just try and talk them back to sleep and get them to go back to their beds or a couch or chair whatever is closest so they won't run into anything or fall down.
Although it sounds like your sister does a little more than just sleep walk- this may work. Instead of trying to wake her up, simply talk to her and try to guide her back to bed or to a couch.
If all else fails, ask her to see a doctor because of the concern. She may need to take a medication that relaxes her while she sleeps or puts her into a more sound sleep.
Hope that helps!
I've been told never to wake a sleep waker because they can have heart attacks. hopefully it'll be something that she'll grow out of later. YOur best bet is to make sure her surroundings are safe when she has her attack. Do not try to wake her. Until she clams down. Her heart rate will raise to high and she could die.honestly
Dude, people wake me out of nightmares the entire time. Really bad serious nightmares. I also 'sleepwalk', and I'll be sleeping in very strange positions when I awaken. Of course, I have never done anything to harm myself while asleep...at least I don't think so. I really doubt a heart attack would happen to somebody so young (crazier things have happened I guess, but still), but it might be a possibility with older people.

But the talking strategy does sound good.
You pose a good question. I used to suffer from sleep-walking. My parents just told me to go back to bed, and I would. From what I have read, it is not advised that you try to waken a sleep-walker. They could injure themselves or you.

Just try to get her to go back to sleep. She is just living a dream, so-to-speak, so just let the dream work its course. You should attempt to mitigate any injuries by adding cushioning around her bed and dulling any sharp edges.
