Answers:
At this point in your life, you need to seriously look at some help. Please realize that while I will give you some sound advice and a reality check, you will not find answers on the internet.
First of all, I would definitley stick to whatever your doctor has perscribed to you and beyond that the exact dosage for which you have been told. Mixing drugs and alcohol can have life threatenning effects, though surely you don't need me to tell you that.
Given your agoraphobic situation, I suggest that you drop the mouse, and pick up the phone. You can find a wide variety of help in your local phone book. I suggest getting in touch with a free clinic. Perhaps you can enter a detox program which will allow you to start your treatments all over with hopes for a better turn out. At this point in your life I wouldn't worry about insurance because any progress at this point would be beneficial to your health regardless of your financial situation.
Call alcoholics annonymous. Most likely they can help you not only with your drinking, but other issues as well. They will be able to set you up with a psychiatrist who can help with your other issues. Surely if you have exited your home once, you can do it again. Just imagine the positive benefits you will reap if only you take the beginning steps.
Start by opennign the door. the next day, walk a few steps. Keep going. the next day go to the end of the drive way. Keep going until you can go around the block. You can do it!
There are social assistance programs out there if only you are willing to look. Perhaps you have some family that can support you. Don't let them be enablers to your problems. If they are going to be around you it should only be for positive benefit.
Wishing you well...
First off MAOI's and Alcohol don't mix. YOU NEED TO STOP DRINKING. The medicine cannot work when you are introducing alcohol into your system. Don't stop taking your med's, and STOP drinking alcohol. If you have to go into a detox, do that. Your LIFE is at risk with what you are doing. Have respect for yourself, and get help with your alcoholism, and then your Agoraphobia can be treated properly. You need to honest with the doctors about your drinking as well. I wish you all the best, and try to pull yourself together, and wise up. It'll take time, but time is all we have anyway.
Oh my gosh.you need REAL help. You are seeing a general doctor like I am. After a while you realize how uneducated they are on such topics and can't relate.
I have taken Zoloft. It was effective at first but not after a while. I did my own research and went in telling them I wanted to try Celexa, Lexapro, Effexor, Wellbutrin. I was actually more educated than they and they gave it all to me.
The made a great suggestion that should always be followed.. see a psychiatrist. (they can prescribe meds). Without insurance you feel like you're trapped. You have YWCA nearby that can help without money. They are qualified to help you and base their fee (from 0-what you can pay). If you can't afford it, they will help you. My friend greatly benefited from it and left an abusive relationship.
I relate to you with the Lorazepam. I take it daily because now I think I need it. I take Effexor which is the only anti-depressant lately that I love and can live normally while taking. It depends on you. I have taken many and they all work to an extent. They do wear out. Zoloft saved me. Then it gave up. Try new things.you'll find it. An educated person will work with until you find what helps.
My life has changed. I am not cured but living slowly and feel good about it. I don't think you can get cured, but live with this crap.
Alcohol helps me a lot. People will say that's wrong but they don't know.
I am so jealous of others that have no problems and don't understand.
P.S.
I drink alot and etc.(figure that out)
If you want to talk about this, please feel free to email me.

it is unfortunate that there are no helpful drugs out there that actually controls the misfires of the brain, and doesn't consider the everyday social imbiber. that said, since science has not invented a drug for those of us who enjoy a drink or 10, and that will still allow us to deal with life everyday, I'm leaning towards hard core, intensive therapy. While the majority of mis-firing mental people are able to reach deep down and draw strength from their inner soul, some aren't. I applaude the former, but I am not them. I need the latter. Promote the proper drug, prescribe it to me and be there with the counseling I need to deal. Any Dr. can prescribe a drug, and some will - for no other reason than to get rid of you. Search another one, and another one and another one AND another one...until you are confident about your care. Do not use being mental as an excuse for being mentally handicapped. Whatever you are, That...you are not. how well . do you want to be for your future? that is ultimately your choice. Good luck to you!
Well do what everyone else does.Seriously though, when you dont have insurance go to the ER, tell them you want to committ suicide and they will put you in a psych ward and get you the help you need...because you do need help...good luck.
Does your doctor know you are an alcoholic? You might be asking for an overdose if you mix alcohol and pills. Be frank with your doctor--tell him/her you don't have much money, so you can't take alot of pills and pay for visits that don't seem to be working. If he doesn't change his treatment plan for you I'd just say "Bye, your too expensive for me". There are free clinics in some towns that bill on sliding scales--they can help. Call the Crisis Clinic--they can help too.
