Do you think I'd be making a big mistake by deciding to cut Mental Health professionals out of my life?
Question:
***BTW, everyone who attends this clinic has a case manager, so I didn't do self-harm to get a CM. It's the clinic policy for mental health treatment. But I feel like treatment ain't helping.
Answers:
I feel I know what your going through. I think that mental health doctors try to find labels to attach to everyone. I dont think they know what a normal human being is about, because to them, everyone can have a mental illness.
I just wouldn't want a label so that they could start feeding pills down your throat. That is worse than an occasional "off" experience you might of had.
You know yourself more than anyone else. Take care of yourself and do what feels right for you.
With the healthcare system the way it is they don't refer people to mental health clinics without cause so you need to be there.
I think if you are not happy with the care you are getting from those particular mental health professionals it may be time to seek out one you like. No one should HAVE to see someone they are not comfortable with. You should try to find someone who will HELP you and listen to you.
just tell her that you think you have a slight learning disability, and for anxiety you might try eating the plant fennel, or possibly the seeds ground up.
Have you tried finding a different therapist/program/etc.? As with everything, what works for someone else may be completely wrong for you.
Good luck.
If it's putting a burden on you instead of helping you, then I would cut that stressful part out of your life. You could always go back later if you feel you need it again...and maybe you'd get assigned to a better case manager!
It seems like you case manager is too hard on you and perhaps you should find another one. did you ever try telling her how she makes you feel? As for cutting out mental health professionals doesnt sound like a good idea you just havent found the right one
It's your mental health, you have the right to get the treatment that best suits you. If you're not finding at this place, maybe try a different center before giving up.
I left a couple of counseling centers because the therapist wasn't listening to what I needed. Take care of you. Good luck.
It is perfectly reasonable to cut out the professionals as long as you are willing to take on your own problems. I'm not sure what your issues are, but apparently there are some. If you are willing to take up alternative tools to help yourself then sure, fire your shrinks.
Remind her of the Hippocractic Oath...part of it says "First...DO NO HARM". If she's making you worse...get out !!!
CB is right: take matters into your own hands. Accepting responsibility for your present situation also empowers you to change yourself, whereas you are currently relying on others to fix your problems; thereby handing that power over to them. See anxiety treatments, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris... on page 6. If you haven't made considerable progress in 6 weeks (unlikely), use the locators, and therapy advice, on page 1, to find a therapist using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. BTW, the best way to learn a language is to be with those who talk it, for some weeks, using English minimally.
It really depends what your going for. If you really believe its doing you more harm than good then stop going. When I turned 18 I stopped going to "psychos" (thats my term of endearment for them) because I felt they were more interested in getting my mother's money than actually helping me. As for becoming fluent, my mother is mexican, and she grew up in a spanish speaking home, but after 30 years of being out of contact with her spanish speaking family she is no longer fluent and can barely remember it. It takes time and alot of steady constant communication with someone who knows the language fluently to get the hang of it. Set yourself mini-goals, that way you won't set yourself up to fall too hard. Best of luck to you.
All they know is book learning Try to get in a support group Then you hear it from the horses mouth and learn how other people cope in your situation
Is your case manager different from whomever prescribes your medication? Do you also have a therapist? If they are two different people, perhaps you could talk to someone about this case manager and how she makes you feel. She sounds like she is a drama queen from what you have said. She is probably doing more harm than good to everyone she sees. Is there a possibility that you can switch case managers?
I don't believe you need to cut these professionals out of your life, but you would do better with someone who acts professionally and does not pressure you.
