How serious is schizophrenia?
Question:
Answers:
Most serious mental illness, of course depending on how severe the case is. Its defining symptoms are delusion and hallucinations. Contrary to popular belief, psychosis does not mean violent. These folks may at times seem scary, but they are not the ones committing crimes. It's treated with a class of medication called anti-psychotics. It is not curable. It can be managed, and for some with a relatively mild case, they can live fairly normal lives.
It's very serious. When in an episode, a schizophrenic is totally out of touch with reality and is living in their own reality. It's treated with psychiatric antipsychotic medication - I've never heard of anyone being cured, but I've never really researched it either.
Very serious. It's treated through medication. The ones who recover are the ones on medication. Without treatment, some schizophrenics are tormented by voices and auditory hallucinations. Others are catatonic.
So far from what I've read, it isn't curable but it can be improved.
Not all schizophrenics have to be in institutionalized, or at a behavioral health hospital. They can live and function in everyday society with proper treatment.
very serious but very treatable with meds but i don't believe curable.nothing to fool can cause sucide or homicide in extreme cases but pls get medication for it and take religously despite side effects even when feling better
aint no biggie if you take care of yourself and stay out of trouble. the head docs will try to wreck your life with meds and worse things. they are just making a living and they really believe that crap works. it destroys your mind. i watche one after another destroyed, they tried it on me and i managed to leave. have been doing real good without that crap. i am really happy now.
I'm Schizoaffective, not exactly full blown Schizophrenic. But I'm pretty screwed up. It will never get better. Been like this for 9 years. You'd be disturbed if you saw me.
Frickin razor freak.
I once designed a house for a man with this incurable disease. He took his medication and was quite rational the whole way through the design and construction process and it was my pleasure having the benefit of his good nature. He lives a relatively normal life when medicated appropriately and earns a living as a musician.
I know he has his moments, but my opinion of him is that he fits in pretty well socially. Great sense of humour.
PROPERLY TREATED IT CAN BE HELPED THROUGH THE RIGHT PSYCHOLOGISTS
