No matter what anybody says, quitting smoking marijuana is really hard. I have friends who are still smoking heavily 20 years on, and they are just shells of the people they could have been. I don't think you can really gradually cut back. I think cold turkey is the best way, but you have to get out of the social situations that cause you to do it. You will crave it for a long time, but if you stay focussed and concentrated on your goal, eat right and exercise, or meditate to calm down your mind, you will suceed! All the best.
It is really hard to quit! I don't know from experience but I have seen the trouble my brothers went thr9ough to stop smoking. The truth of the matter is that your addiction to marijuana is all psychological. From what I have been told, there are withdrawl symptoms but very minimal compared to other drugs. you might not want to stop cold turkey but you can decrease your number of smoking session by a fourth for a week or so...then by half and so on...it may sound stupid to everyone but it can work. Thats how my brothers got over it...
If you are serious about it you can commit yourself voluntarily to a Detox and referral program in your area
I was the same but luckily there was a shortage here last year & I couldn't get it most of the time. After a few weeks I stopped looking for it altogether. I still sometimes want a smoke especially in company of others smoking, but I think about the money I wasted on it.
my son in law smoked weed for over 12 years one day he said he was going to quit and he did just that he has not smoked a joint for over 6 months and he said he would never go back on it as he likes to have money to buy nice things and he now realises that it was the smoke that was making him paranoid.
its all down to willpower and c.a.d.s might help just thing of all the nice things you could have in life if you quit also a lot of people smoke it because they cant face reality for one reason or another you need to trace the root of the problem first.
also try hypnotherapy that works for smoking.
depends on how much you want to give it up
but watch out for all the other stuff that you could get involved in when you weak all the best
try NA meetings it not just for people with hard drug problems. x
The problem is there is no substitute drug for cannabis. I am glad you at least agree it is addictive, so many people try to deny its addictive potential. Best option try and reduce gradually, the local CAD = community addiction team might be able to help.
You need to look at when you smoked it and what times? I had a friend who kicked it (with some help from his friends).
His biggest problem is that he used to go home from work and light one up instantly.

We all banded together and rather than going home he came to ours or another friend and had tea there. Got him out the habit and we were there for moral support too.

We also went round his house and repainted the whole thing and rearranged it (with his help) which took his mind off it, and once done, it looked like new surroundings, again, just trying to change the environment.

We also threated to kill him if he got smoke marks on the new paint :-)
Lets hope this is a warning to all those who keep insisting dope is safe,on this site and beyond.
Maybe a good herbalist could offer a substitute,to help you get off it.
I quit it for two years, i just stopped like that.

but now i smoke it again, the difference now is... i smoke a very small amount at a time & i use it.

by use it i mean i will go for a walk in the country to view nature and wildlife, or I play my musical instruments and use the drug to heighten my enjoyment of those activities.

whereas before i would just get stoned and just waste my time watching pointless TV shows.

if you smoke joints made with tobacco a lot of the time, you may find yourself smoking joint after joint after joint.

but really that is the nicotine addiction and not the cannabis. i quit tobacco about the same time as i quit weed and the urge to smoke heavily disappeared.

i can get high for a good while on about 1/2 a fingernail sized piece of weed, a really small amount like that.
I understand what you are sayin, I had an addiction to cannabis for around 12 years. I somehow just went off it, sort of outgrew it. I am sure it contributed to my nervous breakdown and clinical depression. I have not had it on a daily basis or even a regular basis for about 3 years now. I got some about 6 months ago as I was offered it and I'd always seen it as relatively harmless, apart from my poor lungs disagreement that is! Anyway that is when I realised how bad it is for my head, it was'nt right for days after. I wish you well.
