Can you eat yourself out of depression?

Question:

Answers:
NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! You will just gain weight, have a bad self-image, and get even more depressed. For depression that is bad enough to affect the quality of your life, you need to see a doctor to get an appropriate dose of an appropriate medication for an appropriate period of time. Exercise helps. Lay off the booze, and the extra food.

Depression can steal your life, and substance abuse (and food is a substance in this case) is a huge obstacle to recovery.

Don't believe me--I don't even have a first aid certificate. Ask you doctor. Please.
No, eating more can cause weight gain, therefore if someone gains too much weightt hen they are usually upset about their body.
no you just gain weight an cover up the problem better to solve than eat
If you have any luck please patent it.

you will only become bigger and more depressed
well you can eat yourself into a bigger size....
Yes you can :)

BUT, you have to be one of those people that relate food to comfort first. If you didn't grow up with that mentality, then it probably won't work for you.

I for one find something chocolate (cake is best) with milk works charms on a sad soul...

Some will screech that it's bad because of the weight gain, but if you're depressed and you think food will make you feel better, by all means go for it instead of letting doctors put you on some crap that shouldn't have even been passed by the FDA.

BTW ~ Just an FYI - Weight gain is the single biggest side effect of many modern day antidepressants!!
No but don't expect to fit into those jeans for too long.Food only pacifies the moment. You need some help. And food won't do it.
You can eat yourself into depression. Try seeking the advice of your local social services agency.
No im sorry but you cant. If you eat more it wont help you mentally. If you are in depression only mental health will heal you. Eating when depressed will only help to gain weight so overall eating when depressed is not a good idea if your happy with your weight.
No, there will be just more of you to be depressed. Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. It is treated with antidepressant medications like Zoloft and Wellbutrin. I take them both myself and have no more symptoms for over 4 years now. Good Luck!
No sorry. It's very tempting, but you will end up depressed and fat. It's hard to motivate yourself when you're depressed, but do your best to eat healthy food and get lots of exercise. If the symptoms are severe and long lasting, talk to a doctor about anti depressants.
How would you eat yourself?

I'm most concerned when you reach your mouth. Kind of weird, don't you agree?
Damn right! You can also drink yourself out of liver damage, and smoke yourself out of lung cancer.
I wish you could, but unfortunatly it doesn't happen that way.
I don't think you can because when you eat you get "bigger" and then become more depressed because of your weight.
No just into it.
