Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. I think Cognitive Behavioral Therapy would real help you. Try the following steps:
1. Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.
2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be very effective for panic attacks, depression and anxiety etc. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can speak to your doctor about taking a course or you can take a course for free online at: www.livinglifetothefull.com
3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. You can get free downloads if you put "progressive muscle relaxation" into Google (e.g. lots of universities have them as free downloads)
With each step practise makes perfect. (i.e. practise the steps every day, not just when you are feeling bad). I hope you feel better soon. Best of luck!
First, being in the hospital is not fun. Trust me, if you are afraid of not sleeping in your home, the hospital is NO place for you. People check on you and if you are on suicide watch they will come in your room every 10-15 minutes.
The hospital won't fix you...it will stabilize you. YOU have to fix you.
Second - if you are seriously going to kill yourself, goto the ER and they will put you in the hospital.
If you are just thinking about it without intending to really harm yourself, call your therapist or your GP. Talk to a friend or a family member.
Call 1-800-SUICIDE or 1-800-999-9999 (Covenant House Nine Line)
Talk about why you feel this way.
The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a 24-hour, toll-free suicide prevention service available to anyone in suicidal crisis. If you need help, please dial:
1-800-273-TALK (8255)
You will be routed to the closest possible crisis center in your area. With over 120 crisis centers across the country, our mission is to provide immediate assistance to anyone seeking mental health services. Call for yourself, or someone you care about. Your call is free and confidential.
yes, i can help you. first of all, admitting you need help is the first step to recovery. you have done well to get a psychiatrist and you need to start looking for a new one sooner or later. my advice would be to go to hospital. if that's what you want and you think it will help you, go. it's better to be safe in hospital than miserable at home having these suicidal thoughts. i'm sure you won't regret it if you go. Good luck ♥

You can get the help you need...
“Suicide is not chosen; it happens
when pain exceeds
resources for coping with pain.”
That’s all it’s about. You are not a bad person, or crazy, or weak, or flawed, because you feel suicidal. It doesn’t even mean that you really want to die - it only means that you have more pain than you can cope with right now.
Why can't you get a new therapist? She is right that you should go to the ER if you are going to do damage.
Have you joined any of the Yahoo groups on mental illness. They have a few for each illness. It may help to get some insight into what your therapist should be doing for you. You can find out what medications people are taking for panic etc.
It seems like you should be on more medication. Maybe you can pose this question in the groups.
Why "can't" you get a new therapist? Seems to me that would be the second thing to do. The first is to run, don't walk, to your regular physician and let him/her know that you need to see a psychiatrist (not a psychologist) for an evaluation & possible medication. Don't hold back, tell your Dr. exactly what's going on.
if you are serious about it why would you milk it for the attention? wtf?
