Im happy, but i listen to sad songs?

Question:
i've noticed that even though i'm in a great part of my life right now, i enjoy listening to sad songs.

im about to get my AA degree from college, i have a great boyfriend that's in london right now, i dont have a hard financial burden because of living with my parents, and im generally left to do whatever I want..

why do you think this is?

Answers:
You understand sadness... You have felt/feel what "We" feel and your soul is caring. Your a good person and please enjoy your happiness... You deserve it... Dont question the negatives... Focus on all the good you have because you know it can leave at any min. [I hope not though]. I'm glad your contently happy. Good for you with no pun intended!
I think you have a great life and listen to sad songs.
I enjoy rather depressing songs too! I think it is just taste/preference it doesn't necessarily mean you are depressed, though! So I really wouldn't worry about it! :)
You simple enjoy them! I enjoy some crazy rock songs.. and I'm fairly quiet.. They just make you feel good! Nothing wrong with that. The music you like doesn't really reflects or feelings or personality!
I LISTEN TO SAD SONGS, BUT IT IS JUST BECAUSE THE SONG IS REALLY GOOD, IT DON'T HAVE TO MEAN THAT YOU ARE SAD! I LISTEN TO A LOT OF ROMANTIC SONGS, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M IN THE MOOD TO BE ROMANTIC! I JUST LIKE MUSIC WITH A GOOD BEAT TO IT!
I personally dont think anything is wrong with that. You are probably more into the type of music. Sad songs are generally slow and soft, why dont you try listening to a little more happier song that has nearly the same music. I personally listen to happy songs although my life isnt the best it can be, so its the same difference. Sad songs are a big part of my life too, and I dont see anything wrong with it at all. Its just your taste in music. (:
overly happy songs (with no apprent pain or soul) are fake... period.
well i find that in my life when i am really happy i get kind of sick of being happy i do things like lissening to sad songs so it's normal and as long as u don't lissen to those songs all the time and become emo!
Don't worry. I'm the same way. My man hates the music I listen to. He says it's all depressing.
Nothing. You're normal.
Not knowing you makes this very hard. If I were to guess I would say either youre sad and you just don't realize it or you just like sad songs!

If you are sad it could be for a variety of reasons, perhaps some need is not being met and maybe you don't realize it. Or, if you just like sad songs, maybe you have a penchant for the dramatic in life and perhaps you appreciate the emotions that are expressed in sad songs. Sometimes also, we crave what we don't have. I know this sounds weird, but If you are happy, maybe you want to be sad. Maybe just to feel something different?

I suggest you try to undertake a more thoughtful exploration of your feelings and perceptions. Ask yourself, how do these things make me feel and why. It's a good start to understanding youself.
i think it's just your taste.
jsut like how some people like opera...
That's perfectly normal! I'm a happy person too and I love to listen to sad songs, just because they are so much deeper than some of the spunky hiphop songs out there today. They just help me get in touch with my emotions and inspire me to do things like paint, make movies, do photography, etc.
If you like the song, whether it sounds happy or sad, that is just your prefrence in music. There is nothing wrong with that!
