What is this..?
Question:
Answers:
I am surprised that there are this many answers suggesting that the diagnosis is OCD when there is nowhere near enough information to warrant such a severe diagnosis. There is a hint of Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder, but no more than a hint and these two characteristics alone are nowhere near sufficient to warrant any diagnosis. Many people in the population have OC traits, but both the disorder itself and the OC Personality Disorder have multiple symptoms that result in real functional impairment beyond annoying habits or traits. The person you describe may have either disorder, but certainly not based upon these two simple features.
It could be OCD...
Sounds like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

obsesive compulisve disorder. OCD
The correct diagnosis is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Obsessions are irrational thoughts that won't go away...such as "I have to touch something the doorknob twice before I leave or something terrible will happen." Compulsions are the acts that don't make any sense, like collecting garbage.
OCD
Yes it sounds like an OCD or an irrational belief..I used to do illogical things like thinking if I dont do this or that something bad will happen its a load of rubbish of course half the time I wasnt aware of it & it was all in my head so no one else would be aware of it..being aware of it was 1/2 the problem for me & so in that sense u r 1/2 way to being cured otherwise I began to question things like how could that possibly be right & gradually it just disapeared from my life, I would say its a sign of a deeper seated problem like depression & the best advice has to be make an apointment with your doctor, if it is a freind you could offer to go with her.good luck!
Sounds as if she is suffering from a condition called obsessive compulsive disorder, Have you asked her why she does those things?
I kind of have that too.I feel sad when I spit my gum out becasue I know that the gum that was in my mouth is in the garbage. It's really, really wierd.
