Anyone else have OCD?
Question:
Answers:
I have OCD and am currently between drug therapies. I have also been on several different "cocktails." Prozac has worked well for me, but it's also made my symptoms worse.
A few things might be going on:
1) You don't say how long you've been on the Prozac for. It could be that it hasn't had a chance to work yet.
2) Prozac may not be the right drug for you. In me, it made me very hyper, which sent my OCD into overdrive. I couldn't sleep, and I lost a lot of weight (a side effect I did not complain about!). Eventually, though, the Prozac DID work for my OCD, although I had to augment it with some other drugs. You may need to switch to a different medication or talk to your doctor about combining the Prozac with another drug that will help balance you out.
I have benefitted from cognitive-behavioral therapy in the past. It worked, but it's very hard to stick to. Traditional psychotherapy is not usually recommended for OCD but it can help if you find the right therapist.
The best thing you can do right now is report any symptoms you're having to the prescribing doctor, and if you feel he or she does not have your best interest in mind, move on to the next doctor. Good luck.
no but i do have VCRN
Very Confused Right Now
Yes..I am on Prozac as well and it has stopped it for me. You didnt say how long you have been on Prozac. Typically it takes a month to work.
If you cant tolerate the side effects go to your doc and ask for another meds, there are many SSRI's out there that may work better for you
I was on meds till i realized that its in my head and can control it on my own. so i stopped.
First of all...You are not going crazy.
I don't know what meds your on so I cannot evaluate your meds. I also don't know your symptoms. Therefore if you want my opinion you will have to give me more concise information.
I think everyone has OCD to a degree, some more so than others and some more obvious than others.
My daughter had OCD tendencies and seemed to be getting worse. Pharamaceuticals are generally my last resort but I did not know of any other way to deal with this issue. Before we went to drugs for this I found out she was severely gluten intolerant and had a miriad of other food allergies. At the time I never would have put the two together and even her allergist said that her mood swings, OCD tendencies and ADD had nothing to do with her allergies, BUT after a year on the gluten free diet she is a changed person and functioning so much better - her OCD, ADD and mood swings are gone.
Gluten masy not be the case for you but look at it this way, you do not have OCD because you are prozac deficient. Nutritional deficiencies can cause your brain to malfunction on many different levels. Food allergies, heavy metal toxicity, mineral deficiencies (usually caused by one of the above) contribute greatly to nutrtional deficiencies- If your body is not being fed, your brain is not being fed.
no i don't know but u should try a Doctor second opinion OK!
