Bipolar ,obsessive compulsive?

Question:
My sister -in- law has bipolar, obsessive compulsive, severe depression and anxietys. She is 7 months pregnant, the way she found out she was pregnant was because she tried killing herself and her husband took her to the hospital. She has tried doing this many times. She always thinks everyone hates her even her husband. She cant drive, she has panic attacks, she doesnt like being around people so she stays in the house all the time...Im worried about what will happen after she has the baby, will her condition get worse (she is being seen by a dr) will she have a greater risk of having postpartum depression... is there anything I can do or say to help her out (besides what i do already)

Answers:
Well, there is more going on here than just bipolar, OCD and depression. This lady has a self-esteem/self-worth problem and that needs to be dealt with. It sounds as though she is in constant need of reaffirmation of her worth, from her husband, her family and her friends. I hope the doctor does more than just writes Rx for her. She needs a good counselor who can work with her on her issues and get to the root of the problem. Perhaps if she can feel better and more self-confident, she wouldn't have so much anxiety leading to these other issues. I would definitely be concerned about the postpartum issues upcoming. Best of luck to you!

Join a 12 st. group (free) like CODA. It's basis is healthy relationships and they'll help you cope with the stress. It sounds like she's prob not properly medicated because her symptoms are much more out of control than most bipolars.
i dont think that the baby will help her and would be concerned because there is post partum depression too she needs to be checked on often and that is for her sake and the child your ? has me worried and i think this person needs support and it may help to get her into a support group after hse has the baby for mothers she can meet ppl this way too, churches in her area would be where to start and as her friend call her and check on her as often as you can after she has the baby she needs to get on some good anti depressant s and take them regularly if she is to be helped at all, good luck and take care!
i recommend her to visit a psychologist who specializes in these disorders...bipolar patients need meds, but ocd and depression can usually be cured or helped in therapy...panic attacks may also require meds which should help to regulate her problems...i would also recommend that she is provided with LOTS of support througout her pregnancy and after..its very important for her to have people around her and to support her.
