Why does mockery trigger such an angry response?
Question:
Answers:
Well people make fun of 'weaker' people because it's a power trip. Anyone who feels the need to be 'superior' to another in this way, really feels quite inferior .. the only way to feel powerful is to take it from someone else. And they're certainly not going to get it from someone who's stronger than them. There's a sad scared kid inside every single person who needs to make fun of others.
As to your rage about this .. well, it's natural to feel anger at injustice, but you also mentioned that you'd been bullied as a child and you say that it's more than anger you feel now. I would say that a lot of your anger is the feelings you must have felt as a child and kept repressed all these years. Now that you are big and strong, you are able to express the anger and sadness that you couldn't allow yourself to feel back then. Anger at yourself for being the brunt of other people's jokes. Anger at your parents or guardians or teachers for not protecting you as they should have. Anger at the people who made fun of you.
Maybe looking into that and finding healthy ways to express your anger will make you feel better. Exercise always helps .. so does helping others. You could join a program that works on spreading awareness of problems like bullying or teaching kids about self-protection or something like that. Or strengthening the weak, whether its the elderly or mentally challenged or whatever .. maybe this would make you feel like the knight in armour to others, that you yourself would have once wanted. And that can feel pretty good.
People become angry because they love themselves and do not wish to see flaws.
