What To Do About My Severe Paranoia?

Question:
Lately, and only just lately, I've had some severe paranoia issues. It has me actually afraid to do things, and constantly giving a little look over my shoulder. I feel like I am going to die very soon, or that someone is going to kill me, or that i'm going to get into a car accident. Or that, and I know I sound like a real psycho here, Apocalypse is going to come. I know that sounds psycho, but I do believe in God, so it makes sense. But I just DO NOT know what to do about this severe paranoia. I thought it was because i've just turned 18 and maybe things are just kicking in on me, I don't know. But can someone please help me or tell me how to get this paranoia off my back?

Answers:
Give this a little time. It could be hormones or too much sugar or stress/depression or fear of becoming an adult. This is common and you may not realize that you are stressed.

I suggest that you give up sugar, caffeine and white breads and pasta. Eat a small amount every couple of hours. (protein with veggies or fruit or whole grain bread/crackers; nuts and seeds. easy on the fruit) Give this a week or so and see if you feel better.

I used to keep peanut butter crackers with me at all times to keep my blood sugar steady. When I felt uncomfortable, I ate one or two.

If this persists, see a professional. If avoiding sugar and such works, see your doctor and ask about your blood sugar.

Hope you are better real soon. And, this world will end one day, but nothing to get worked up about. No one knows when.
I think you should seek a councilor or someone who can help you deal with your feelings. Talk to someone, hopefully they can give you strategies. Just keep your head high and try to be betterthan your fears; don't let them rule your life.
First off, calm down. Second, talk to your pastor.

If that doesn't help, get some counseling. I hope you find the peace you desire.
Better get it taken care of before THEY do...
I'm a paranoid schizophrenic. Trust me, things will seam very real, but most of the time they are not. You need to see a doctor and get put on anti-psychotic medication. It's the only thing that helps me, and it usually doesn't help me that much.
I felt very paranoid when I was in a state of depression. I was put on Prozac and it vanished -- well almost (so you don't like me eh?)
go to a psychologist, they can help you a lot.
No joke, schizophrenia rears it's ugly head around this time or a bit later. You can't help it if you have it but you can control it. Go see a Dr. . Or stop doing drugs...
In all seriousness you need to consult a mental health professional who can properly diagnos what your paranoia stems from and help you control it. whether that means medication, cognitive behavioral training, Individual or group therapy, desensitization or psychoanalytical work... it's important to get help now while your young so this doesn't get worse.
i would talk to your doctor. maybe you have gone through recent changes. or are getting antsy about going to college. maybe your dog died or you got into an arguemnet with a friend. sometimes the littlest things can just throw you off. after i had my son, i found that i had post partum depression. only it wasnt 'depression' it was ALL anxiety like that. i was always afraid the space heater would explode and burn our apt building (which was all concrete) down. i couldnt drive. and didnt go outside if at all possible. my dr.tried me on a very low dose anti depressant for a couple of months and that was just enough to get me out of my 'funk'. i know you didnt just have a baby, but you should still see your doctor. the fact that you realise you're being unreasonable is a good sign. your dr. will be able to help you with more options too... good luck and god bless
Maybe you need counseling. Medications may be an option but 1st see a Doctor to get a professional opinion. You defintely should talk with someone. Its important at your young age to enjoy your new beginnings so at least you are brave enough to admit you have a serious problem. That is a good start for you so you can get the help you deserve.
You could be just going thru some adulthood thing. Honestly, I would take comfort in your faith in God and read the bible as much as possible. Theres alot of good info on how to deal with worrying. If you do feel like you are possibily suffering from a mental illness, I would talk to a psychologist or even to your regular doctor to get their opinion. Reading that your fear is in the apocolypse, you should read the bible and also do everything possible to do your best to follow the gospel and live as a good person. This way when you die you will be saved by the Lord, and you can live in peace forever.
