Is severe overreacting to a fairly simple problem a sign of any psychological disorders?
Question:
Answers:
Histrionic Personality Disorder as well as Borderline Personality Disorder come immediately to mind as good possibilities.
They are symptoms, yes. It shows Paranoia and Anxiety, possible low confidence as well. But they are just symptoms, hard to tell what the actual disorder is.
I think it is it happens often enough and not just once. It shows a lack of coping skills and poor adjustment to reality. In addition to what has already been mentioned, two mood disorders, anxiety and depression tend to lead a person to feel that problems are much bigger than they really are.
Some borderline, histrionic people don't reason well and they tend to get overly emotional about most anything.
I would not say its necessarily a sign of psychological DISORDER but certainly a sign that the person is DISTRESSED about something.
Really depends on whose perspective you look at it from. For instance in a case of domestic violence, the abuser may think the victim is overreacting .. so it really depends.
