I can't go to sleep?

Question:
For the last couple of weeks, I am having trouble sleeping. I joined a gym and most of my workout consists of lot of basketball playing. I don’t get home till 11:00pm, and I lay in bed around 11:45pm. I find myself up thinking about things till 2:00am Is there something that I am doing that is not letting me go to sleep.

Answers:
You should try going to bed only to sleep. When you start having sleep disorders, one of the ways to fix them is to have a routine where you do the reading, watching tv, thinking, eating, etc in any place but your bed, so that your mind associates bed with sleep, and nothing else. When you get home, do something relaxing. Take a long hot shower (a great place for thinking about things too!), eat something light, disconnect from the world a while by reading or watching TV. As soon as you feel drowsy hit the sack and let your mind wander. Don´t think about anything specific. Works for me!
You are probably still pumped up from the gym try taking a hot shower or bath before actually going to bed and avoid eating a heay meal once you get some.
drink milk, and dont eat a heavy meal
Strenuous exercise should be done at least four hours before going to bed. You would think it would tire you out, but it has the opposite effect. Stop playing so late at night.

It may be that your basketball playing needs to be done earlier in the day. You could try finishing your workout earlier say 10:00 p.m. and see if that helps you fall asleep earlier. If so then you may need to finish your exercise even earlier. Many people do it in the morning because it gives them a sense of well-being throughout the day.
You need about 4 hours between your exercise and your sleep time .. because the exercise wakes up your brain! Try to push your exercise timings back so you finish exercising around 8 pm, if you want to be in bed by midnight. Otherwise if you can't change the timings and you enjoy your exercise, just stay awake longer and do stuff around the house, and get up later.
