What will happen if...?

Well, I'm not sure. Maybe he/she would just talk to you about it. It depends on how strongly you said it. If they assumed you already had it planned out, quite possibly they would have someone keep a watch on you, give you medication, or send you to the hospital. I'm not sure what they'd be allowed to do.
I know when I told my parents I'd kill myself if they took my best friend away from me, they took it very badly. I was being serious. They don't allow me to close my door anymore unless I'm changing or sleeping(so my dog will stay in the room with me). At first, I had to sleep with them so they could be close at all times. I was told if I ever said that again, they would send me to the hospital and I'd basically have to leave there for a while.
So...Idk.
Suicide really isn't the answer, though.
Are you a believer in God? Even if you're not, get the song "Much Like Falling" by Flyleaf. It'll help you I bet. It helps me. I think that song was destined for me and others like me.
When I said good morning,
I was lying,
I was truly thinking of,
How I might quit waking up,
He pointed out how selfish,
It would be kill myself,
So I keep waking up,
It feels so much like falling,
Dying while I wait to die,
The fear of something or nothing,
Lonely empty lie,
I don't want to be a liar,
I don't want to be selfish anymore,
I want so much to change,
Learning your love everyday,
There's still so much to know,
You grip my wrists,
I let go,
It feels so much like falling,
Separated from the fear,
Aware of a destination far away from here,
Far away from here,
It feels so much like falling,
Separated from the fear,
Aware of a destination far away from here,
Far away from here.
She will talk to you about it. She might make some suggestions. She will ask you questions about the feelings (how often, do you have a plan, when did this start, etc). Probably not much else. Oh, she may give you suicide help hotline phone numbers to use in case you get the feelings again.
Any good psychiatrist will talk with you about it and should not jump to any conclusions or force you to enter a program or something. When I was a teen, I had these thoughts all the time and my psychologist at the time usually talked with (or rather let me talk and she listened or asked questions) and most of the time I was able to feel better and leave without any need to act upon my feelings.
You might get a prescription of an anti-depressant. I've pretty much been taking them for over 10 years and am the better for it. Though a lot of people are prescribed and take medication for the trend of it, some really need it for serious issues. Your psychiatrist, with your help (it's your body and mind), will decide which healing route is best.
Above all, don't do anything. Talk to someone!! Even if it is the faceless people of YouQA.com ! :)
Get well!
Well they cant send you anywhere unless you actually try to kill yourself, however, they would most likely start you on meds, and ask you to come to more therapy sessions. I've gone through this with therapists 1,000 times.
Whatever she does, you should tell her. Or someone else. Call a suicide hotline if you don't feel comfortable talking to someone you know. Since you asked this question, I think that you want help. So don't do anything without talking to someone first! Things may seem bad. Things may be bad. Just talking about it can give you another perspective.
Dunno, but think about this, your already seeing a therapist,do you really wanna take answers on suicide from people on the net? See a priest or pastor, mental health is not only sickness of the mind but of the soul, no therapist will tell you that. Heal yourself as a whole.
she would probably prescribe antidepressants...
Hmmm...I think she would want to find out more. I think she might want to know what is causing you to feel that way. She might want to know if you've thought about how you would do it...that way she could know how to help you. If you are a minor, she might have to tell your parents, but she might not. You do not automatically go to the hospital for feeling suicidal. She might make sure you won't be alone for a while. There are a lot of things that could happen.
Please, please, please, if you are feeling suicidal call 1-800-SUICIDE or one of the numbers listed on the following website. The people can talk to you about what you are feeling. They also might be able to tell you more about what would happen if you talked to your psychiatrist about it.

Whatever you do, please don't hurt yourself. Try to be honest with your psychiatrist or someone you trust so that you can get the help to get you better.
