Suicide is serious. If the person succeeds there is not a second chance.
Frequently, suicide is considered a mental illness. People who are mentally impaired are legally considered unable to make and not responsible for decisions.
i really hate it when people try to commit suicide, especially if they do live, my thing is that it is a mental thing, and they are getting attention. if you are gonna do it, DO IT AND END IT. don't play games and make people feel sorry for you. talk to some one about whatever problem you have.
Death is permanent, and often the problem the suicidal person is dealing with is not. People see death as a negative thing and assume that you must be off your rocker to contemplate and attempt it.
I suppose that most people can't believe or tolerate that someone hates life so much to a point that they will kill themselves. And because the majority of people can't feel empathy they label suicidals as stupid, or self centered.
Well, here's the thing about that. A suicidal person can be locked up against their will because they are a danger to themselves. It's generally accepted that people shouldn't have the right to off themselves.
Now, let's say you failed an attempt and you find yourself in the hospital. There are some things that can get you out sooner than later if you want to try again. Don't act up. Pretend like you're happy. Follow directions. Don't be disagreeable, but don't be too passive either. You don't want to look miserable or crazy. Take or pretend to take any medicine given to you. Insist that you're not really suicidal you were just very drunk and made a mistake. If you add some details like a girlfriend leaving you or something, that's great! (especially if you're a teen/young adult.) If you do this, you'll get out within the first 48 to 72 hours.
If you're sent to a private hospital that has a wait list or something, then simply don't go to group while continuing to act normal. They'll let you go in order to let someone else in who wants to be helped.
The thing is with psychiatry is that people only see what you let them. If you don't tell them you're suicidal either through your words or behavior, then no one will know.
It's thought that people who are suicidal don't really want to die, but just want help. If you really do want to die, then don't ask for help in anything you do.
