Valerian Root?

Just a quick question. My husband is a police officer and is drug tested randomly and I was wondering if valerian root would make him pop? We are into herbal remadies and such, and it is an exelllent stress reducer..

I suggest that you contact your doctor or pharmacist and ask them specifically if it will pop-up in a drug test, especially since your husband's career likely depends on the outcome of these tests. Therefore, I would get the info from someone trained in the field. It is also important that your husband notify the lab that he has been taking Valerian Root when tested and they can then verify that, if needed, through certain testing. Better to be safe than sorry.

Valerian root is great as a muscle relaxant/anti-anxiety remedy. It is available at health food stores and the grocery. It is not a controlled substance, so it would not be tested for. However if your husband is taking it and goes into surgery or any other procedure be sure the anesthesiologist know as it can compound the effects of medications, causing complications.
