Should it not be right that a terminal ill person should be aloud to terminate there life?

It is a controversial issue but I truly believe that people should be able to end their lives if they are in such pain. My mother suffered with cancer for 7 years and for a long time I wouldhave done anything to keep her alive, in pain or not, but towards the end watching her agony was just too much. I just wanted her to be out of pain. Those who say it is a sin etc should have to see someone they love in agony to understand why it should be an option in this country.
my opinion on this is that yes i think a person who really cannot suffer anymore pain should be allowed to make a choice to end there own life, not alot of people want there last months/weeks to be in so much pain and sorrow,
it really depends on the person what they want to do but i think if its really serious and too much pain then they should be allowed to make that choice about there own life,
Yes i think euthanasia should be allowed when a person is in the final stages of terminal illness or other circumstances where the quality of life is poor.
I think that euthanasia is a great idea for people with terminal illness, and who is of sound mind to make that decision.
People have the right to dignity when they are dying, and for many people, they would rather chose to go with dignity, instead of having strangers wiping their bums and feeding them like babies.

I wish it was legal in the UK.
Whether a TERMINALLY ill patient should be ALLOWED to end THEIR life is a deep philosophical question perhaps best appreciated by those whose spelling and grammar are perhaps of a higher calibre. Most patients who are in this unfortunate state and are still compus mentus do have the wherewith all to take their own lives if they wish, but choose not to do so.

The larger, and more controversial issue, is once they are past this stage, and cannot mentally make the decision for themselves, or are physical incapable of carrying out their own wish to end their own life, should someone else be empowered to assist them?

As a GP just finishing his career who has seen and dealt with hundreds of terminally ill patients, my answer remains no.
