Question Queen , if there is ever a incident when you call the crisis hot line and you get somebody who acts like your bothering them ,when that's their job. Then I would advise you to call that number back and see who you can speak to like a supervisor or manager. Please make a formal complaint, because if this has been a major crisis and someones life was unfortunately taken, and this lady was rude and nothing was done. This could have caused a lot of family pain and agony. "Good-Luck"!
I didn't
I've worked on a crisis hotline in the past. Depending on what's going on, and how big the call center is (and the time of day) you may in fact have gotten someone, that felt hurried or was just tired, etc. Whatever the reason, this is not an excuse for not giving you the attention and courtesy you deserve. There is usually several people answering the phones and I suggest you call back and if you get the same person, ask to speak to someone else. Hope this helps.
I am very sad someone on a crisis line would be so uncaring. Don't let that one person turn you away from seeking help.
I called a crisis line on the psy. floor at the hospital I had been a patient. Two calls stand out: One call I was asked to call back in a couple of hours since they were busy. I wasn't asked if I was thinking of harming myself, etc.
The second call, I called, talked a very short time, was told to let it go and go to sleep. If I could have done that, I won't have called.
At this minute, I am covering crisis lines for domestic and sexual violence. I have wondered if anyone felt I ever short changed them. This is a good reminder to me to slow down and listen.
I hope you make another call and hope it is much better!
Hugs
