What is the medical difference between these 2 benzos ...?

I think that the difference in bezodiazepines is the sedative effect some have. If I remember correctly, I have been prescribed most all of them. Ativan and Klonipin are different in the amount of time it takes for them to expel from the body's system. That is why Klonipin has to be taken more often. I suffer from post traumatic stress disorder due to being a battered wife. Klonopin became unsuccessful due to the fact that if I was able to sleep for a certain amount of hours I would experience night terrors at the end and wake with extreme panic and feel as though my chest would cave in. I am now taking Xanax, which is a highly addictive benzo, but it stays in my system 24/7 keeping my anxiety at a level that allows me to function on a daily basis. When it is time to lessen the dose it is in agreement with my Psych that we are to ween me off of this drug and then Valium will probably come in to play because of its sedative effects, at least on me, Im no pro, but I've been seeing the same psych for 8 years and he explains a lot to me. I think this drugs do however have different effects on different people. I know my father used to love ativan and valium, but unlike me, he didn't go to sleep. He was a long-time user of alcohol, so perhaps these two drugs mimicked his 'intoxicated' feeling. Now I know why pharmacologists have to go through much more schooling these days. I hope this helps a little.
Klonopin is a little longer acting. Other than that, there are no appreciable differences.
Klonopin - Clonazepam >what have you is usually perscribed to patients to take on a regular basis for Anxiety or panic disorders. Adavan is usually administered in medical offices or in hospitals due to the apparent strength and plus the effects of adavan are much stronger than Klonopin. Some individuals experience halucinations while under the influence of Adavan, alot of the time its effects can be almost sedating if used for pain or SERIOUS stomach settling. I've never heard of anyone taking Klonopin and halucinating...however if taken in strong enough doses, one's emotions or feelings towards anything could be heightened, meaning either positive or very negative.... My husband Has anxiety disorder and ADD. HIs medication for ADD causes him extreme anxiety if something rubs him the wrong way- so the Klonopin counters and keeps him calm..sometimes if they aren't used in unison however effects can be very averse, like violent. Ativan is addictive if taken every day. I take 2 mg of Ativan when needed for anxiety - not every day.
Attvan is a fast acting medication, Klonopin is a slower acting but lasts longer. Longer half life than Attavan. Can come dependent on both!
Klonopin is longer lasting and in addition is a mild mood stabilizer. It is also the benzo with the least chance of causing dependency.
Ativan lasts for a shorter time, and is definitely more addictive.
