Inability to cry?

Question:
My boyfriend is unable to cry, and claims when he did in the past he only felt worse afterward. I am unsure if he suffers from depression; we are very happy together but as I am graduating next year and he is younger than I am, I know the prospect of my leaving is tearing him up inside (he has told me this himself). We are extremely close and our relationship is healthy in general, which inevitably lead to hopes for the future which, given my leaving are very much uncertain. I can't help but think that he would feel better if he could just let go and cry; it has been so long since he last has. I've always thought crying was healthy, and witholding isn't constructive at all.
Is there something wrong? Is there a condition when people are simiply unable to produce tears and have a good cry? What can I do to help? There is honestly nothing I can tell him in regard to the situation about my graduating that will make him feel better but I dont know how to even be supportive in this.

Answers:
I'm unable to cry as well. My eyes still water from time to time, but sadness or anger or any of the usual causes of tears don't produce them for me. Don't worry about it... it's most likely just a physical thing or some type of mental block. It can be frustrating not being able to cry, but it's manageable.
My guy friend actually has that problem. Their tear ducts just do not produce enough tears shall we say for them to cry. And crying feels uncomfertable to them. There is really nothing you can do. Just be supportive... just because someone doesn't cry doesn't mean they don't care or don't have emotions. Just be patient and understanding. I have the same problem... I haven't cried in 8 years.
it doesnt sound like he's depressed or anything.
it just sounds like he's holding everything inside him.
which isn't really healthy. but will become unhealthier when he starts to show that hes holding it inside.
i think that he will breakdown at some point.
but for rite now, i would just be there with him and have fun with him. cause it sounds like thats what he really needs/wants. give him memories.
and good luck.
