How do you tell someone that you have panic attacks?

Question:
I need to tell my parents so that I can get help in preventing them and whatnot, but I know they'll make fun of me, so what is a foolproof way of telling them that it's not something I take lightly and I'm being serious?

Answers:
Okay well first off, is there something that is keeping you from telling them? Like are you doing drugs, or have you recently done something or changed something in your life, that's keeping you from telling them? More so, what's making you anxious, and paranoid? I ask these questions because I went through the same problem.. i'm 25, I'm well over that phase, but I went through it too. The best thing I can recommend is for you to just be straight out with your parents, they aren't going to reject you and throw you out onto the streets. If they do, those are not ideal or understanding parents. They should be there for you and understand or atleast try to understand what it is you're going through. It's tough man, let me tell you.. Panic attacks and anxiety, are no walk in the park. It takes TIME and PATIENCE. Above all a POSITIVE mind to over come this. I hope I was of some assistance.
You must have some really crappy parents if they'd make fun of you for having panic attacks. What kind of asshole makes fun of their child for having a serious condition? Anyway, I would just tell them straight up. What else can you do? Just say to them that you've been experiencing panic attacks and you'd really appreciate it if you could get them checked out and possibly treated (if such a thing exists)
Just explain why you feel that way.

Explain how you are thinking, what emotions you are having how your body is feeling.

And while you are thinking about how you feel.

Ask yourself how your are thinking.
How do you know when to have panic attacks?

Is it something you are worrying about?
Worrying is imagining that the worst will happen.

So if you can image the worst why not also imagine the best thing that can happen.

Either of them could happen couldn't they?

And its just as easy. And its much more fun!

I am assuming you already know what sparks your panic attacks. (?) For me, being in crowed places (bars, restaurants, or department stores) triggers mine. I don't put myself in those situations. Of course, sometimes I don't know upfront or have to suck it up to buy something. (Christmas time is the worst for me!) I sweat, my breathing gets erratic and there was time when I would start seeing "stars" or white dots... a temporary spell of tunnel vision. Almost like a migraine, but that was ruled out after trial medication that didn't work.

Can you just tell them, no, I don't want to go, it makes me feel queezy.

I don't know how old you are, but start dropping hints that some things physically make you ill. Next time they take you to a doctor, talk to the doctor about this and see if he/she can treat you or will refer you to a doctor that can.
Tell them the doctor has told you that you have a physical disorder that causes you muscle tension under certain circumstances. At least at first, they may respect that. After that, once they are doing helpful behaviors, you can tell them the truth.
wow, I'm sorry you think your parents will make fun of you. I sure hope not, that is awful. I have panic attacks too. I would recommend that you print some information off the internet about panic attacks, & present them with this information. Maybe they will take it more seriously if they realize how much a person suffers when this happens, and how serious it can be. I passed out from hyperventilating on one occasion. I have had to be taken by ambulance 3x to the ER because I couldn't breathe. Let them know that this is no laughing matter. I hope you are also seeking some kind of treatment for this as well, whether it be therapy or medication, or a combination of the two. I think you just need to educate your parents. If they won't listen to you, than you'll have to let other adults in your life know that this happens to you. Maybe you could have somebody else talk to them about it as well. Good luck!
When you become chronically truent, they will get a clue and stop making fun.

Seriously, all I can suggest is that you talk to the school councelor, and perhaps they can schedule a meeting for all of you to sit down in their office and talk with him. Sometimes, the input from another adult is necessary in these situations, and what better adult than one trained to deal with students mental issues?
That's tough. You need to understand that, if your parents make fun of you, that's abuse. That's just so you understand what's going on and are prepared and know that it's not your fault. Here's a web site with a discussion of the malady. Think about printing it and asking your parents to read it.

Do you have a trusted adult, friend, family member such as an uncle or aunt who'd be sympathetic and could explain to your parents that this is not a laughing nor teasing matter. The need to be figuratively slapped up along side their heads to "get it".
hi ,there is two ways :
allow your panic attack in front of them .
if they will not feel u can try several times .may be one time they understand...

some parents can't understand that because you says that by yourself & understimate the condition till it become ahuge problem

***** God help you *******

if your only aim is getting better ...> try to visit a docter ..if they can't understand the problem & u say that the docter says. they willbe attracted.
