Adhd/add =social issues?

Question:
I have ADHD and I have always had a problem talking to people. It is beyond shy it is like I freeze up, does anybody know what I'm talking about? Is there anything I can do before I go to college?

Answers:
Sounds like you may also have social anxiety disorder. I also have AD/HD and social anxiety disorder, along with depression. Zoloft has been highly effective in helping me to cope with my social anxiety.

I've known lots of people with ADD & ADHD. Shyness is NOT usually their problem. I'd wonder if you may have some social anxiety. Go to the person who diagnosed you, or your psychiatrist who gives you meds, and ask if you may be having some social anxiety or other anxiety. You may be able to get a prescription that helps with both the ADHD and the anxiety, together!
Sounds like Social Anxiety Disorder rather than ADHD. Paxil can help with that as well as other drugs. See your doctor for help.
