No teenage years?

Question:
what are the effects of someones personality if they never went through atypical teenage life for whatever reason; such as long coma, child-abuse inprisonment etc

Answers:
Hi Raidon04,

How are ya doing? You need to share some more details of what specific personality issues you are concerned about ? Regressive behaviour in which an adult fantasizes and obsesses over missing out on a perfect childhood?
Are you concerned with issues of abuse during childhood and the deep psychological disorders that can result ? Are you concerned about a friend or family member ? What specifically are your concerns ? You need to give us some more information to work with ?

If you are specifically addressing the issue of child abuse and the "psyche"/mind or soul and the emotions, there are several negative psychological effects that may present ? I don't have the time to go into these right now but I'm sure you can search on Yahoo, Google etc. for some of these. If any kind of traumatic abuse is concerned any person in such a situation should be properly evaluated by a General Practioner (family doctor) or psychologist and then based on the severity of the ordeal/situation referred to a psychiatrist for treatment which includes or should include counselling.

Write us back if you wish or follow up medically ?

Best of luck and regards.

In some cases, emotionally speaking, they would be behind for whatever number of years the event that caused them to happen to lose those teenage years happened. This is the sort of thing you see in addicts or alcoholics who start drinking or using in their teens; when they straighten out, they have some catching up to do, as they've been numbing out and shutting out a lot of things that are part of normal, ordinary development. In other cases, e.g., war, people grow up in a hurry. My parents both survived World War II and didn't really go through the typical adolescent years. Suddenly they were forced into life and death decisions and events, and they had to forgo a typical adolescence. They were old beyond their years.
Im sure they would be quiet and contained...Hard for someone to try to get to know..
I missed my teenage years, or at least what would have be en normal for a teen in the US.I have to conquer with the previous answerer's.I am quit and hard to get to know.I would think to best some it up ,I am a Misfit.
