i had that for a little while; as soon as i had a nightmare and used to fall asleep after waking up it used to continue just like me waking up was the pause button on the dvd and me falling asleep the play button. what i used to do when that happened was not think about what i had just seen and just try to return to sleep as normal.
also before you go to bed why dont you try relaxing e.g. have a calm dinner, have a really relaxing bath maybe with scents or something (dont know if yuo will be interested in that) something that will help wind you down and dont watch any action or violent movies and dont think about the dream you might have and hoe scary it is otherwise it will force you to dream it. usually what you think about is usually what you dream about (well for me it does because when i have a list of stuff i have to do i always end up dreaming about it for some reason if its really important or on my mind) anyway try those methods if it doesnt work consult your doctor and you could probably be referred to a sleep doctor or a Psychiatrist to see why you are having the dreams. hope that helped sorry if it doesnt
tell yourself that they are only dreams and also go to a good psychiatrist and get out the trauma of this image that is terrifying you and then maybe you will get some much needed rest
You should ask your mom if she could hire someone to help you sort out this problem. Or, better, would be for you to sleep with her until your nightmares/dreams wear off so you could gradually sleep better.
Before you go horizontal put a notebook and pen by your bedside. When you wake up at whatever time try to write down the details of your dreams. Do this at least for a week or two then analyze it or let a professional analyze it for you. Maybe the'll find the root of the problem..personally dreams are leaks from the subconscious mind. Most of them are the ones that plays the guilty role...but that's just me.
have you tried just talking about what happened who isnt in with it all maybey your feeling a sense of guilt that you didnt stop you friend if it is really bad maybey your mum should take you to the doctors who could give you something to help you sleep untill you get over this very tramatic experience. if you need to talk then you can email me. or you could try talking to one of your friends or a teacher about how your feeling as this may be affecting your sleep if you are bottleing things up it is going to affect your sleep and the way you function.
hope this helps and i hope life gets better i could never understand what it would be like if my best friend jumped off a cliff i dont know how i would get through it.
Hey thats rough since your just a kid but my suggestion is read. i know it sounds cheesy but if u read your self in to a sleep its useually filled with dreams from the book try harry potter all the kids like that these days. and i know how u feel my friend shot him self while i was there when i was young and ohnestly it passes...it just takes a while work hard during the day too if your exhausted your less likely to dream. and stay the hell away from drugs, of any kind trust me, it may seem to help at first but it really makes it worse. i know, ive been there and i was only 10 at the time
hang in there kid it gets better
email me if you need to talk but use tears.of.a.raven@hotmail.com
Freud says that we dream about things that we experience during our day to day life. He also says that our dreams our a way of releasing all the fears we have so we can function normally on a daily basis. Without this outlet, we would all go insane. The dreams will probably continue for a while until time has numbed some of the pain and allowed you some distance and the ability to have other thoughts filling your mind. So, do anything you can during the day to take your mind off of this tragedy and live life to the fullest. You will be giving yourself the opportunity to dream about other things as well as letting go of the pain you have experienced. As far as a short term fix: if I have nightmares, when I wake up I go and find someplace else in the house to sleep. Sometimes it keeps me from going right back to the same dream when I go to sleep. It isn't fool proof but it works most of the time.
You or your mum can't do anything about that dream, all you can do is go to your friend and tell him/her about the dream you had because that dream is warning you of your friends fall from grace.
The person isn't going to die but, he/she will have some misfortune in the future that could cause him/her much grief.
