I want to go on Stress Leave...?

Question:
I'm too stressed out at work... I think I'll have a mental break down or just go wild on someone...SOON!

What do you tell your doctor so that they will agree to write you a note for stress leave?
Have you or anyone you know taken a stress leave?
What country are you from? And what line of work are you in?

Answers:
Talk with your doctor about how you feel. Tell him you can't take it anymore. It may be time to look for another job.
No one is forcing you to stay there. if it's that bad... time for a new job... it sure beats a heart attack or nervous breakdown. get out of there!!
Get a counselor, and tell them exactly how you feel. Perhaps they will suggest you take a leave of absence. If they diagnose you with acute anxiety, or something similar, you may even have a medical reason for taking the LOA, which could prevent your company from firing you.
If you are deemed with a mental illness then you can absolutely take time off from work. Tell your doc your symptoms and if they diagnose you with a mental illness and you live in the usa you can apply for FMLA (family medical leave act) then you are federally protected from loosing your job.
I hope you feel better soon!
Oh dear - to post online means you're serious. Document all the reasons why you feel stressed - include any incident times & dates. If your industry is covered by a union then see them - you don't always have to be a member. My mum is on stress leave - she is a strong woman and I know conditions and events made her ill - she wasn't a member of a union and they helped her. See your doctor, get referred to a counsellor ASAP - I have a new saying "Don't Mess With Workplace Stress"!

To people who say "go get another job" - you are so wrong, feeling safe and secure in the workplace is A RIGHT not a privilege. It is up to employers to ensure that right is so.
