Disturbing thoughts lasting over two months?

Question:
I've had really disgusting thoughts about something I'd rather not say and they've started this summer and won't go away. I've had them before, during spring and christmas break. They only seem to go away when I'm at school. But it's summer now, they're back, and I can't get rid of them. I don't know that to do. There's absolutely no way I can tell anyone I know about it. It's just too embarrassing and wrong.

What's the matter with me? I feel like I have a chemical imbalance or a mental disease. I'm scared that they won't ever go away. I have these thoughts dozens of times a day and I'm sick of them.

Answers:
i understand that you think you can't talk to anyone about these thoughts. But i promise you, priests and psychiatrists have heard it before. and they have probably heard worse things than you are thinking.

I think the psychiatrist would be more helpful, only because he/she might recognize your thoughts/ideas as typical of the onset of sometime illness. Maybe they can treat you for it, and with meds you might not have to go through this anymore.
Maybe it would help talking to someone about these thoughts. You're gonna have to say what the thoughts are or no one can help you. Good luck
You may well have a chemical imbalance in your brain. It's best to see a professional psychiatrist to diagnose the problem. If you do have a chemical imbalance, it will only get worse if you don't find the medications to help heal what's going on. Good luck and take good care...
Even though it may be embarrassing, you should talk to someone about these thoughts

Try confiding in a close friend, or a mentor that you can trust

You can message me if you like,
i am sorry to say if you think they are that bad you really need thearpy soon. If you do not get the help you may react on the thoughts you are having Andrea Yates who killed her five kids by drowning them she had thoughts for sometime before she finally did it! So my advice is see a doctor and soon or may may regreat in in the long run I will pray for you each and every day may god bless you and guide you on the right path Amen you can talk to me any time night or day i dont have to see you or speak to you on the phone i will not know your voice or name IM me anytime
I'm in a similar situation, I hate it. It repulses me and it makes my hate myself. I was doing some research on this, and this is a form of OCD called Pure "O" meaning you have obsessive thoughts that will not go away. Often time the thoughts are of you doing something that you are very much against, like murder or inappropriate sexual feelings. Often times the person spends hours wondering if the really want too do these things, when in fact they are the lest likely person to do so. I totally know how you feel, so if you need to talk just message me :)
There is a huge misconception with thoughts that are sexual or intimate and that they are wrong or bad. On the contrary, they are normal and it is not the thoughts that you have to worry about,it is how you react to them. However I would caution that if they are about young children or they are consuming your day to speak to a professional. Best of luck
sounds like your bored and need a hobby. go mow the yard and clean out the windows..
I think it's called obsessive compulsive disorder. I bet you're attracted to your sister, mother, or little children, right?

Don't worry, I don't think you're a perv. Your mind keep drifting to that area of thought because somehow you stumble to that subject. The thought keeps coming back because you give it attention. It's kind of like this, the more you TRY NOT TO THINK ABOUT IT, The More you THINK ABOUT IT. The thought of: What if... What could of...

Are you on any medication? Maybe that's what causing these thoughts. That's what happen to me when I was on Lexapro.
If its sexual, a lot of people fantasize about things that would never actually do or even find disgusting when it comes right down to the act. I do even though I wish I never started. I think you should try to curb your thoughts. The reason why is because once you start thinking about something that is (taboo) the effects will ware off and you will start having replace these thoughts with worse ones. There is the actuality that you might some day succumb to the thoughts also.
If its not a sexual problem than I have just made a butt of my self.
i also have very weird thoughts when i let my mind wonder the thing i do (dont know how health it is) is try not to let my mind wonder and block out this things or if i cant distract myself mine normally come at night or in dreams but sometimes during the day i like to try and look myself out of my mind (if that makes any sense) ive told a friend of mine it helps a little and i havent told my parents so i really dont know how to do that but the way i see it as long as u dont start doing these things it will be there but not as much but i am also a guy who is used to bottling up emotions so i hope this hopes and if u do tell ur parents just be sure there is noting distracting around and be forward with it dont worry their ur parnets their there to love u no matter wat and if that doesnt work talk to a school counsular when school starts up again and best of luck to u
